The history of Torino-Ceres railway line (FTC) goes back more than a century ago, when it was equipped with experimental 4kV overhead catenary. In 1993 a flood severely damaged the line, which had been closed for many years. The reconstruction took 15 years, and in 2008 it was again reopened. Since than the traffic has been very much reduced over the years: the train routes are mainly in the flat part of the track, between Turin and Germagnano, while between Germagnano and Ceres the line is very curvy and steep, and there are only 3 round-trips per day. Moreover, despite being electrified, small and agile ALn668 diesel railcar are the most suited, and therefore mainly used. The picture is taken at the terminus station of Ceres, characterized by its swiss style, which is typical of the station of this line.

Some explanations for the non-Hungarian viewer. FTC is a mediocre Hungarian football (soccer for that side of the pond) club in Budapest. Well, mediocre in even Hungarian terms, which, knowing that Hungarian football is mediocre at best, means a quite low level. Anyway, FTC is infamous to produce the worst kind of football hooliganism (which is, just like the game itself, is below British standards, but still, you get the point). Now, this shot was taken some 1100 miles away from Budapest. And yet these sophisticated people a driven to let the world know who is the most precious to them. Or to mark their territory. I'm not sure if this is any better than, you know, a quick wee. That is washed away by the rain at least.
