Honestly the can looked pretty blue until I shot it. The nerve.

The nuthatch is a tit-sized, grey and rust-coloured bird that can be easily spotted climbing headfirst down tree trunks in woodlands.

This cool piece of vintage tech still works, no idea of its age but it still meters!

EDIT:

This edition, the Leningrad 4 light meter, was manufactured around 1968, in the former USSR.

HCT!

Another wildflower from our morning walks. Butterflies and bees enjoy the blossom and birds eat the purple berries that follow.

Natural bokeh. The 105mm creates great bokeh if you have good light and your FStop is near wide open to create the blur.

Lensbaby 2.0 Lens

They no longer sell this lens but I found one on EBAY. I've had it a couple of months and decided I'd better use it. I used FStop of 5. It uses aperture rings in the lens itself. You move the lens with your finger to get the blur you want. I have the Lensbaby Sweet 50. I think this one is easier to use but that series replaced this lens. I used a macro extension tube but I can't remember which one or ones now. I think maybe I used two on this.

Taken while driving on a beautiful Autumn day. Driving Speed + Slow Shutter Speed and here you have it... :-)

Since this was taken during the day, so used a low ISO and High Fstop so the image did not get blown out.

Hope everybody is doing Great!

And HSS!!!!

sometimes we are lucky but we should work properly.i work just in M mode and i adjust shutter speed/Fstop on the camera depending from the target and light...this time i was looking for a wildcat inside the bush so i had a camera setting not good for birds...and i suddenly found an eagle taking off...:-))

anyway i had been lucky to get it in focus but ideal settings are at very least 1/2500 F7.1...

a gentler shot of dusk over the Cullercoats pier ... [deliberately dusky :) ] That mergey moment when day slips to night.

... posting a few of these just now as it's part of getting some diversity for fundraising in aid of the Cullercoats RNLI . Also playing around with Fstops and shutter without filters, I like to experiment.

Stac Pollaidh - Evening Light

I have been travelling to the Highlands with my photography for a few years now, but only really reaching as far as Inverness and the Isle of Skye. It was my birthday this past weekend so we decided to stay near Ullapool for a couple of days to investigate a few locations.

Although I have never been to this location, I had this exact setup in my head hoping for the last of the evening light hitting Stac Pollaidh reflected in Loch Lurgainn, with the little boat to help balance things out and give a little foreground interest along with the grasses catching the light.

This was to be the best of the light on our short trip north, but certainly a good start to what I am planning are a good few more trips to the area.

DSC00257 - Helios 44-2 aperture markings

Buds are bursting open from the Bromeliad. Photo as shot and framed. Cold weather has moved it indoors to my bathroom, and it likes the environment.

Another from my fieldtrip to the recreational domain Hofstade, where I visited the abandonded open air pool. I am looking over the water, towards the poolhouse.

Not easy to hold still during this 30" exposure, due to ND-filter stacking up to -12 fstops

A Scottish Winter

Glen Coe last winter and an image from Beinn a'Chrulaiste looking down on a snow covered landscape just before sunrise.

For those that are interested this was made with the Sony RX10...also known as a highend bridge camera and it was done all handheld;)...purely cause the A7r was sitting next to me using the tripod;)

I processed a similar image last year, but this is a slightly earlier image with more clouds.

Un petit tour le long du Lizon à Cuttura dans le Jura Français.

Everyone has their own definition of what "Handmade" means to them and what they visualise those "types" in their mind. I have photographed here 2 distinctive polarities. Firstly you'll see a crafted shot of individual small pieces of paper positioned, fanned and curved to capture light and structure. (Then) Secondly, you'll see the finesse of "Handmade" with the skill of a master in watchmaking ... and of course with all photography with it likes and dislikes it's very much in the eye of the beholder.

Here Comes The Rain

Ashness Jetty, Derwent Water

A few weeks ago I was passing the jetty and spotted the dark clouds starting to roll over the Lake towards me, which happened to have a beautiful rainbow in front of it. I decided to stop, got my gear out and started to set up, unfortunately the rainbow went before I could catch it. I did manage to get a couple of shots of the rain coming over just as it hit me, a few rain spots to tend with but I still like the mood created.

Macro Monday - Sweet Spot Squared

This was an aperture of f11. I was looking through all of these different apertures and they all seemed to get a little sweeter with each higher number. Which makes sense.

I know every lens has it's spot but I could not really decide.

Happy Macro Monday

some information about these wild flowers:

www.wildflower.org/plants/result.php?id_plant=OXOR

Just my observation and advice to Nikon users about the AF-S F4 300mm Nikon Lens. It may be slow to acquire its subject, however out of many lenses that I own there is something special about this lens. It renders colors in a dreamy way that is unlike many other lenses. Sharpness is in the upper percentile range. The above photo is simply cropped, and colors are as shot. Photo was manually focused from about 3.5ft or 1.067m while still being sharp enough to crop in. Remember that this lens is a D model and will only auto focus on camera bodies that have an internal focus motor.

Another find in my archives from last year, I thought all these files had been ruined by not changing the fstop and resetting the hyperfocal distance after changing the battery, but I managed to find a couple that were obviously taken before... liked this long exposure... rich deep colours...

Mountain Light
