What a wonderful and unexpected surprise! Because of the bounty of abundant (some might say relentless, lol) sunshine this summer, the autumn Anemones are already blooming in August. This beautiful Anemone deserved to be painted.

The camel is perfectly well adapted to the extreme conditions of the deserts. It is extremely frugal and resistant. The nature of its blood allows dromedaries (arabian camels) and two-humped camels (Bactrian camels) to endure water loss of up to a quarter of their body weight without suffering any damage. Pine Grosbeak - Pinicola enucleator

Fringillidés • Long. 24 cm Env. 34 cm

La tête, le cou, la poitrine et le ventre du mâle sont rouges. Les flancs et le bas-ventre sont gris. Le dos est foncé, les ailes sont noires avec des bandes blanches. Le bec est court et fort.

La femelle est grise avec la tête et le croupion jaunâtres. Les ailes sont noires et blanches.

Le jeune mâle ressemble à la femelle, mais sa tête et son croupion sont plus orangés et avec plus de couleur sur la poitrine.

Vit principalement dans les forêts, il peut visiter les banlieues en hiver à la recherche de petits fruits toujours présents dans les arbres. Présent sur tout le territoire du Québec, sauf l'Arctique.

La foresta è partita dal fondovalle, alla conquista dei versanti rocciosi della Dolomia. Essa ha schierato, dapprima, manipoli di faggi e di ontani bianchi. Poi legioni di pecci indomiti, tenaci e fittissimi. Salendo si è affidata ai larici, frugali e resistenti. Infine ha mandato avanti le avanguardie dei cembri. Loro, gli invincibili, hanno spostato il margine della foresta fino al piede delle pareti, conquistando macereti e ghiaioni. Poi si sono arresi ..... ..

The city of Oxnard is home to over 20 miles (32 km) of scenic, relatively uncrowded coastline. The beaches in Oxnard are large and the sand is exceptionally soft. The sand dunes in Oxnard, which were once much more extensive, have been used to recreate Middle-Eastern desert dunes in many movies, the first being The Sheik with Rudolph Valentino. There are very few rocks or driftwood piles at most beaches, but Oxnard is known to have dangerous rip-currents at certain beaches. Oxnard is home to world-class surf at most of its beaches.

Oxnard's Beaches extend for 5 miles along the city's oceanfront, from Mandalay Beach in the north to Silver Strand Beach in the south. The continuous stretch of sand is only interrupted by the mouth of Channel Islands Harbor. The beaches are known for their sunshine, mild surf, cleanliness and easy access.

"Sometime during the fall of 1916 or the winter of 1917 the congregation of what was then the First United Presbyterian Church of Oakland, decided on newer quarter for their expanding ranks. And so, under the pastorship of Rev. Dr. James F. Ross, then engaged architect Julia Morgan in January 1917 for the construction of a “one-room frame church” at the intersection of Harwood and College Avenues. The budget allotment for this was a frugal $10,000, a very modest sum even then for a community building."
