Tom and I are both flying through The Eye of the World, and it doesn't get much better than reading by the lake with a epic sunset. 📖 . . Really enjoying the first Wheel of Time book so far and I'm just over halfway through. I think Robert Jordan does an impressive job of both world building and balancing characters. I love how it feels like a really well written D&D campaign (pushes up nerd glasses) and is full of adventure. ⚔️ . . The travel, music and songs are also fun; the series feels a lot like both Lord of the Rings and Name of the Wind, so I feel like fans of those books would also enjoy WoT. . . How are others liking it? I feel like I'm going to want to jump right into the next one. 😅 #frostbeardreadalong fbrd.co/2h9l4FD
After finishing the first book in the Wheel of Time series Tom and I both dove right into the sequel, The Great Hunt. 📚⚔️ . . While doing our read-along for The Eye of the World I was stunned to hear how many people read the entire 15 book series in a row, often rereading them, but now I totally get it. Fun adventure and great characters, classic fantasy story - I'm really enjoying it! . . If you're currently reading WoT (or have in the past) and want to join the discussion use #frostbeardreadalong 👌 fbrd.co/2h9l4FD
For those of you joining our read-along, how are you enjoying The Eye of the World so far? I had to reread the first chapter a couple of times because I was distracted at the beach, but once I hit chapter two I was invested! (But no wonder I was intimidated- look at the size of that book, and there are 14 plus a prequel!) . . I'm up to Chapter 8 now and it seems like the story has been nonstop action. I love the setting of Two Rivers and can practically taste those Honeycakes. I think Rand is going to be a great protagonist and is very relatable so far. Looking forward to seeing where his adventures lead. . . Having a little bit of a hard time remembering all the character names but imagine (hope) that will get easier as I go. Any questions we should discuss? I'm trying to avoid huge spoilers, but general topics etc welcome. Tag any of your photos/discussions #frostbeardreadalong fbrd.co/2h9l4FD
I'm starting The Eye of the World today (the first book in The Wheel of Time series). If you want to read along with Tom & me tag any pics, discussions or questions #frostbeardreadalong . . I'll post updates every couple of days, trying to avoid major spoilers (and will probably be slow paced). I do want to eventually read the whole series but likely won't do it all at once. But I'm excited to start because I've heard such great things! 📖 fbrd.co/2h9l4FD
I finished Eye of the World! I was invested the whole way through... and might have picked up a copy of the next book in the Wheel of Time series. 📖 . . I found the story very intriguing and love where it's headed. All the characters are great (my favorite is Lan because he reminds me of Aragorn). 😏 I've seen some reviews complaining the book is too long and detailed but I think that's why it's easy to geek out about. I love learning about house sigils and colors. The nerdier, the better! . . If you are reading along let me know how you like it and how progress is going. Tom will likely finish up this week too and I'll likely dive into The Great Hunt. #frostbeardreadalong fbrd.co/2h9l4FD
