Yes...read it and weep, my friends...frost. We woke up to an icy glaze covering the outside world the morning before last. The little ice crystals sure are beautiful, they also look bizarre on pumpkins, mums and vibrant autumn leaves. Not to worry...the cold didn't last....we're thankfully back to normal temps. Though I think the cold will be back next week...that's New England for you ;-)

Hope everyone is having a great week. Enjoy the rest of your day, my friends :-)

A bleak morning view of the city on the first day of February.

The frost was heavy - not quite a Hoar frost except along the top wire.

Happy Fence Friday

I have no longing for the cold season, and I might even say that I dread it a little. But it offers good opportunities to take more photos, of course. Here's a picture from January 2021. I just found it on my hard drive and can't remember how I edited it anymore, but I like it :-)

Beautiful frost has been covering everything for the past week from the smallest grass to the tallest tree, making everything look magical.

Had to stop the car to capture this lonely tree while exploring the wide open spaces near Leamington, Ontario

I am very honored that this image was chosen as group banner for TMI: your ART & NATURE **NO PEOPLE OR MAN-MADE OBJECTS** in December 2021

Have a wonderful weekend all my Flickr friends whatever the weather & thank you for all your kind comments & faves! Taken on the last day of January in Bushey Rose Garden.

Frost-covered trees along a country road leading to my hometown

Trotz Sonne friert der See zu.

Mein Lieblingsbaumstamm habe ich euch schon so oft gezeigt(ich hoffe, ich langweile euch nicht). Inzwischen ist er abgestorben. Mal sehen, wann er abbricht.

Despite the sun, the lake gets covered by ice.

I have shown you so often my favorite tree trunk(I hope I don't bore you). In the meantime it is dead. Let's see when it will break off.

hoarfrost

Hoar frost is a type of feathery frost that forms as a result of specific climatic conditions. The word 'hoar' comes from old English and refers to the old age appearance of the frost: the way the ice crystals form makes it look like white hair or a beard.

Thanks to everyone that views and comments on my images - very much appreciated.

ALLEGHENY BLACKBERRY

On a very cold winters morning just as the sun is rising, the frost had formed tiny ice crystals covering everything it could find, looking wonderful as the sun lights them up. This is another attempt at focus stacking, which allows more of the image to be in focus.
