This is the river Glomma. So cold in Norway that most of the river is ice covered. Only a few places where you can see the river running. And in sunset it's a wonderful sight!
The sound of old winter ice
breaking at spring's touch..

The picture is taken not far away from Kobben, Nordland, Norway. It was freezing cold at the moment, -10c and pretty strong winds.

Afternoon at Fetsund lenser. Cold sunset, but warm light. And the sun sets at 15:00! We cant brag about long days in the winter! But the nights!!!! Wow! They are endless!!!! :-)
Frost is the solid deposition of water vapor from saturated air. It is formed when solid surfaces are cooled to below the dew point of the adjacent air. Frost crystals' size differ depending on time and water vapor available. Frost is also usually translucent in appearance. There are many types of frost, such as radiation and window frost. Frost causes economic damage when it destroys plants or hanging fruits. But it can make beautiful pictures!!
One of the islands where we sampled ciscoes through the ice. In the distance, our crew prepares to cut through some thick spring ice.

It's going to take more than a week for the sun to break the ice at Glomma. Fetsund Lenser dressed in winter coat!
When temperatures are down to almost -30 degrees, even Glomma turns into winter paradise. Most of the river is Frozen! I guess this boat will be stuck here the next weeks ;)
