Rio Grande EMD GP30 No. 3003 and GP40-2 No. 3100 are on a work extra dumping ballast west of Leyden, Colorado, on February 12, 1999. A company front-end loader piles it along the right-of-way so that it can be used later for some track work. The era of a Rio Grande GP30 working on the Union Pacific is quickly fading away at this point.

Canada's Parliament is currently suspended (prorogued) until late January 2009 but the snow still falls so this plow operator is working on clearing the Bank Street sidewalk here beside The Langevin Block at right. That's Wellington Street ahead at the lights with The Peace Tower of The Centre Block of Parliament in the distance. Season's Greetings, All ! Best Wishes to You & Yours for 2009! Thanks Much All, especially David Three Rats! www.flickr.com/photos/threerats/
.
The public works crew were out first thing this morning getting the snow that had piled up on the sidewalks along the bridge from the plows cleared out.
Naturally, I had to grab a shot of some of our Public Works crew out working.

DISCLAIMER: I Cheated a bit on this photograph because I had a totally blown out white sky, whereas in most of the other Photographs that I took at the Flywheel & Tractor Show I had a gray banded overcast sky. With the other Photographs I was able to increase the Contrast of the sky with Photoshop™ and darken it somewhat. I wasn't able to fix this one such that it looked like a natural overcast. My Bad !
Several other shows/exhibitions were as follows: Functioning Sawmill Demonstrations, Running 1914 400 HP Snow Making Machine Demonstration, Antique Construction Equipment Demonstrations, Model-T Put-Together Demonstration, Daily Antique Tractor Pulls, Kids Pedal Tractor Pulls on Friday & Saturday, Daily Antique Car Parade, Daily Antique Tractor Parade, Florida Flywheeler Antique Engine Club Gift Shop Opened, Huge Flea Market & the Antique Village (was opened) to Wander Through.
What is the loader pushing? Any guesses? Anyone? (Except Mikul, because I know he has taken a picture of it)

This was sitting just off of Block Line Rd. in Kitchener. I don't usually over emphasize my HDR's but it just looked better this way.

Enquiring minds (read into that me) want to know if a heavy equipment operators think they are just playing with an oversized tonka toy? I must ask our youngest son as he operates a 2 tonne shovel.

At the end of our (stationary) dinner train experience, we detrained and I looked down to the east and the light was just GLOWING on the end of their old ALCo switcher. I HAD to temporarily abandon my party to go capture this.
This is the Abilene & Smoky Valley's 1945-built S1 switcher, which eventually ended up on Kansas' Hutchinson & Northern where it acquired its solid orange paint. Recently, the A&SV repainted it into a red & black scheme, but in this lighting, the engine was doing its best to play the role of an orange H&N unit again.
Regarding this unit's location, it had moved down to the east siding switch in Abilene to assist with the crews that were working to rerail the 3415 after the rails (ties, really) gave out beneath the locomotive. As the crew members got closer to me, I asked them "How's it going up there," to which I heard "I've had better days." Understandable.
Two Canadian National SD70M-2s lead a loaded ore train past the old feed mill in Albion, PA on the Bessemer Subdivision. I tried to replicate a similar shot I took in 2000 when the B&LE's tunnel motors were almost new. flickr.com/photos/jwjordak/25383455627/
The front end loader was by clearing the snow off the storm drains along the road.
I grabbed a shot.
