Not sure of the model year on this one, but I'm thinking 1939 or 40.

The original facade. No collage

This time the gates were open to the courtyard at the, now closed, Velvet Cactus restaurant from the last shot. Inside, I found this colorful bit of garden bling.

The hood of this car was up. I'm not exactly sure what this is called...looks like the front of the hood, just for show purposes I guess. This was inside Berger Chevrolet during the 28th Street Metro Cruise last year. So much chrome...sure don't make cars like this anymore.

So Willy called last night , and said got some problems with the frontend , spacers , risers and wiring ...So I headed up there this morning and we went through it ... And as always Willy came up with ideas that mean less work money and frustration ...Springer looks good ....

Got a wild hair and decided to play with some old car pics.

BD's frontend with Woodys fenders, Schmidt Dynohub, Schmidt Edelux

... with the upside-down hood or roof part is designed by a genius. We just have to take away the double curved slope and get a well-rounded, well-framed vent/grille that is typical of quite a few classic sports cars. No sticker required. The 1x2 rounded plate comes in handy, too. We really get a lot of fantastic new parts with the 2018 SC line.

Frontend works for me like this. As a bumper I've found a dark gray rigid hose in 5 L which seems to be an official length.

There were some complaints about the wheel size on Facebook - to me it looks quite correct, the small wheels being a typical element of a classic Mini. I just checked the size of the rims: Diameter is 8 mm, which would mean 280 mm on the protoype in 1:35 scale. According to Wikipedia the classic Mini has 10 inch rims, which would mean 254 mm. That's an excellent match on a Lego car in minifig scale in my opinion.

Less bulky frontend with bumper, thinner, more elegant rockers, more fluent backend (see detail pic).

Regarding the rockers: In fact I re-installed the row of cheese slopes of the model but omitted one layer above them to get a more typical ground clearance (which was reduced considerably due to the smaller wheels).

A 1950 Starlight Coupe. I love the extravagant chrome of this era. Made Explore #293.

This one was still missing.

This thing keeps me going ... When I saw LEGO_MOCkingJ's WIP, see www.flickr.com/photos/132949993@N06/33209480191, there was the idea how to get a better frontend in spite of the scanner lighting. However, instead of a curved slope I used a hinge plus 2x2 tile. I think it does look better plus the scanner is even narrower now (halfplate, more or less).

Hopefully that's it for now ... ;-)

Inversed binoculars for the headlights (just to try out), car has a roof now.

Due to some play within the structure you may lower the backend of the roof for one plate, as you can see. This causes some stress at the rear section but hopefully this can be solved since it improves the silhouette a lot ...
