Friendship Sage - Salvia 'Amistad' has masses of beautiful spikes of violet flowers on near black stems from early summer to mid fall. The flowers are slightly “furry” on the outer surface. Hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies love this plant.

It had been more than 2 years since I had seen my German friends from Brackenheim in Baden-Württemberg, not far from Heilbronn.
The town has been twinned for over 40 years with Charnay-les Mâcon where I live. It's a whole twinning network, because in addition to Brackenheim, Charnay is also twinned with Tarnalelesz in Hungary, Castagnole delle Lanze in Italy and Zbroslawice in Poland.
Every year, the twinning committee organizes trips to each host country. We stay with families, then we receive in turn. Over time, strong friendships were forged.
The European idea is very much alive here, at its best.
Unfortunately, for a time, the Covid had forced us to suspend mutual visits. In this summer of 2022, they resumed, and that's how I found myself for a weekend in Brackenheim.
We were in an idyllic place outside, and we celebrated our reunion around a good glass of German wine. The Brackenheim region produces many great wines, both white and red.

Cela faisait plus de 2 ans que je n'avais pas vu mes amis allemands de Brackenheim dans le Bade-Wurtemberg, non loin de Heilbronn. La ville est jumelée depuis plus de 40 ans avec Charnay-les Mâcon où j'habite.
C'est tout un réseau de jumelage, car en plus de Brackenheim, Charnay est aussi jumelée avec Tarnalelesz en Hongrie, Castagnole delle Lanze en Italie et Zbroslawice en Pologne.
Tous les ans, le comité de jumelage organise les voyages dans chaque pays hôte : on est hébergés dans les familles, puis on reçoit à son tour. Avec le temps, des liens d'amitiés forts se sont tissés.
L'idée européenne est ici bien vivante, dans ce qu'elle a de meilleur.
Hélas, pour un temps, le Covid nous avait obligé à suspendre les visites mutuelles. En cet été 2022, elles ont repris, et c'est ainsi que je me suis retrouvé le temps d'un week-end à Brackenheim.
On était dans un lieu idylique à l'extérieur, et nous avons fêté nos retrouvaillages autours d'un bon verre de vin allemand. La région de Brackenheim produit beaucoup de grands vins, aussi bien blancs que rouges.

Swans on the river Korana. Next to the river Korana is one of the most beautiful promenades in the whole city Karlovac where people walking, watching and feed swans. River Korana become a great place for swans. One large flock whole year stay on the river.
After what was a long day of baking and laughing, drinking a little, and getting to know more each other, we decided to clean a bit and take it to the streets for a GIRLS NIGHT OUT!
Obviously, Asian food had to be the first stop and a part of it... because ... reasons!
The rest of the night is a little blurry and we will keep it a cherished secret! Trust me... it's better!

It seems to me as if friendship and respect are being thrown out the window in American politics. This presidential race is ugly and unpresidential. Let's get back to civility and debate the real issues, creating a more diverse and accepting population and throw the mud flinging out, it is petty, childish and puts the American people off politics! It is time for the presidential candidates to act presidential!
