Beef strips cooked in chinese rice wine served with cantonese style fried rice and kailan in oyster sauce.
I drew this as a b-day gift for my friend. He loves Astroboy, Doraemon, BooBoo (his dog), fried rice, and wine. :D
I was going to cook decent fried rice; had all the ingredients for it.... But alas, I was just too lazy, tired and HUNGRY to make any effort. And this is the result: super-hyper-lazy-fried-rice. I used whole grain basmati rice (cooked extra last night), an egg and half a bag of mixed salad (carrots, cabbage, radicchio, endive), seasoned with salt & pepper and just a little bit tomato ketchup. It wasn't bad... well, I was anyway too hungry to be bothered much.
Besides what the name states, the rice also has scallions and sesame oil.
The recipe I used can be found in the June 2006 issue of Gourmet and on Epicurious.com.
Someone told me that it is best to use left over rice for fried rice, but I cooked the rice using less water in advance for 3 hours instead so that it would cool well. The result was just as good. - Jenny

The famous Indonesian dish. Rice sautéed in fragrant and tasty spices; topped with juicy prawns, sunny side egg. Accompanied with chicken satays and prawn crackers.
Zutaten:
2-3 Eier
gegarter Reis (200 - 300 gr.)
1/2 Rote Zwiebel, 1 Staudensellerie, 5-6 braune Champignons und 1 Karotte alles in kleine Stücke geschnitten.
Jeweils 1 kleine Dose Mais und Erbsen
1-2 Stangen Lauchzwiebeln in feinen Ringen,
Zitronensaft, 1 EL Sojasauce, 1 EL Austernsauce.
Zubereitung:
Fertig!
PLANTEIN 'SCHITZEL':
Pan fry in a bit of oil (I used olive, but others would be perfectly possible, depending on your tase, for 10-12 minutes, until golden brown, turning as often as necessary to keep from burning. Top with a thin slice of cheese, and tomato sauce — mine was leftover! :-). Heat in the microwave until the cheese is melted, about a minute at full whack. Top with fresh basil leaves.
FRIED RICE:
Sauter a bit of garlic in some butter doused with a medium-fragrance oil — I used rice bran — then add some sliced mushrooms, and when they're starting to shrink and soften, add some sliced green ('spring') onions.
Sauter to let the flavours blend, then add some leftover (chilled — it won't work with warm rice) rice, and blend. As the ingredients blend and become a bit browned, create a space in the middle of the skillet, and add one or two eggs, depending on the quantity you want — 2 is good for two people.
Let the egg(s) cook a little bit on the bottom, so that there are some firm white parts. Then slice with a spatula, and mix in with the rice.
Add a couple of teaspoons of black bean chilli sauce and stir in well.
Some chopped parsley (I didn't have any) and a bit of pepper vinegar might go well here: perfectly possible, depending on your taste)
Serve with the fried rice, and enjoy! :-)
