Grateful for this project and helping me remember all the things I sometimes take for granted in my life.

I have so much to be grateful for and I'm happy I was reminded that everyday is a gift and it's said all the time but living life to the fullest is really what it's all about. Making each day count, knowing that even when things are tough it can always be worse.

This is the morning of our first day on Kauai - a short walk down from our hotel (through all the roosters), resided the beach. Despite the heavy clouds, remnants of the sunrise still were able to get through. Enjoy!

Thank you all for your wonderful friendships and support this past year. May 2013 be a great year for you all!

Time to clean up and move on.

 

I was a little bored with this image so decided to make it black and white and add a little color. I mean how exciting can a broom be? LOL. Well maybe if your a Harry Potter fan it would be more interesting.

From the 1st May 2015 I officially finished at Cheshire West and Chester Council. Having had a particularly difficult Christmas time turning over all the options open to me, I finally decided to nail my colours to the mast and pursue voluntary redundancy. It hasn't been easy by any measure. There are so many aspects you don't factor in when making the initial decision and it relates entirely to other people.

 

The first question people have asked me is "So where are you going/have you got anything lined up?" this question has galvanised my thoughts on the British as a hierarchical nation. The notion of class and status is so ingrained that most don't even recognise it is a judgement.

 

This idea was first introduced to me back in 2010 when I was dating Olivier. It really spoke to me that every French person he introduced me to in Nice didn't give a monkeys about where I worked or what I did, their first questions were always "What is the music culture like in England right now? Where do you get your clothes from? What do you watch on TV?" in a nutshell 'tell me more about you and your life, your interests and the things that excite you!'

 

So my answer to the "What are you going to do?" question is answered with "Not this!". I have been blessed to have worked for some of the most amazing, inspiring and aspirational (mostly) women and they have been the reason I have worked in Local Government for the last 11 years. Right now it is time to go, the more cuts and squeezes we face, the more the none essential parts of work are being deleted.

 

As with school budgets it is never maths, science or english that suffers, but music and art. The unfortunate part of that is there are rarely creatives at the top of the tree making all the decisions, so the benefits of creative working are never recognised and the corporate world is reduced to beige and grey.

 

And Ladies and Gentlemen, I can assure you without hesitation that I am never, ever, ever going to be beige or grey.

I love the simplicity and beauty of snowdrops. They always remind me of new beginnings and hope of a better season.We all pass through tough seasons in life.We therefore need reminding that God gives us strength to endure the present and hope to embrace a better future. His amazing love along the way is just the best antidote to discouragement

Wishing our new administration the best of luck. Hoping that our leadership focuses more on the "United" aspect of our country. No small task ahead - so much to do.

My mom gave me a beautiful, big spider plant which I quickly killed. I'm not sure what it is about spider plants, but I cannot keep them alive! This is it now making a comeback... making a fresh start:)

After my RPM Class this morning at the gym I returned home I sat back and relaxed for a few minutes ... then it was time for a fresh start before my walk with a freshly made vanilla latte accompanied by a fresh fruit scone that my wife had baked whilst I was at the gym!

Happy new year, everyone! Hopefully yours will be great and bring you joy and happiness.

 

I started mine with the traditional walk around the lake and really enjoyed the great weather. I think I did not have that much sun in a long time.

Afterwards we had lunch and a hot chocolate, and I spent the afternoon relaxing, watching the new Gilmore Girls episodes before making dinner and shooting the first photo for the 365 challenge. Let's hope I will not falter too soon :)

I learnt how to make my own Photoshop brushes and am pretty pleased with myself.

As for the egg...I used an Ostrich egg which i superimposed over a balloon Darina was holding. Yes, i have an ostrich egg here at home...:)!

Day 1/365 The whole year is laid out before us. We have a clean slate, a new beginning, a fresh start. I plan to make mine a great one...I wish the same for all of you. Happy New Year!

One the first photos I took with a Zuiko 12-60mm. No retouching, no filter, Olympus creative "sunset" setting. I've posted another version that attempts to even out the exposure.

As we stand on the first day of the New Year, we never really know how things will unfold. Hopefully we're fortunate, in that the good outweighs the bad. Wishing everyone health, peace and prosperity in the New Year!

 

From a technical perspective, the lens data in the EXIF is incorrect (user error!). Correct lens information is Canon FD 85mm f/1.2 SSC, shot wide open. Equivalent on full-frame would be 67mm f/0.95.

This one is part of an collection that I wanna make this month. I want to do some tribal/ancient/mythological masks. Also will use paint to bring them to life as I imagine.

So this is it, finally given up work to become an explorer and adventurer.

Fresh Start

 

It was beautiful but cold this morning. The sun was golden and I captured this shot of Shizandra. We were playing the first round of ball at the park for 2014. This is no doubt her favourite way to start the year fresh. And thought I'd do my first photo of her with Topaz processing for something different. I just love how this program colours and curls :)

Recently I got the keys to my new apartment. The first thing I did was install new door locks, with new keys. Just in case...

 

BTW, I took this photo in a Foldio portable studio with the black background. However it's not as black as I want it to be. Any tips on how to get a pitch black background, yet having the main object properly lit / exposed?
