Darling,
If you ever doubt about my heart to you,
Don't be....
You don't need to ask me what to do,
Nor telling me what to think
Because before you ask, it's been done.
And darling, one thing that I want you to know, that;
"I will always put my best on the table".... ( ahem...)
Larose
Hello There!
These are local strawberries, Manitoba grown! Too bad I couldn't upload the scent of them because they smelled divine and tasted delicious! There are several U-picks In Manitoba. I don't know if that'll happen this year, but I do look forward to buying fresh strawberries this coming summer.
Thanks a million for stopping by and for leaving a comment. I do love hearing from you! Have a wonderful weekend!

We pulled down the garden over the past few days and now have an abundance of fresh tomatoes. Yesterday I pickled a dozen pints of green tomatoes and froze 5 dozen red ripe tomatoes. We have cherry tomatoes in various stages of ripeness that I played with today. I set out a myriad of layouts trying to get better at flatlays but none of them really worked out so I settled on this simple layout that was supposed to resemble a traffic light. We stay home some much that it feels somewhat foreign to drive anywhere. I hope you are all staying safe and managing the stress of life.
This month's FOTF theme of 'change' was chosen by Tricia.
As the seasons change so too does the produce. Autumn is my favourite season, and on my recent visit to Apollo Bay early last month, I bought these gorgoeus candy beetroot from the beachside market there.
As the seasons change so too does the colour, form and texture of these beautiful red and golden beetroot as you prepare them.
They were so delicious, fresh in a salad!

But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come.
Mahane Yehuda Market, located in Jerusalem, Israel, is a vibrant and iconic open-air market that holds a significant place in the city's cultural and culinary landscape. Commonly referred to as "The Shuk" by locals, it is one of the oldest and largest markets in the country. This bustling marketplace has a rich history dating back to the Ottoman period and has evolved into a diverse hub of commerce, culture, and community.
The market's vibrant atmosphere is palpable as visitors and locals alike meander through its narrow alleys, lined with colorful stalls and shops. Here, you can find a wide array of goods, including fresh produce, spices, sweets, baked goods, meat, fish, cheeses, and more. Apart from its array of food items, Mahane Yehuda Market has also become a trendy spot for bars, cafes, and restaurants. As the sun sets, the market transforms into a lively nightlife destination, with people gathering to enjoy food, drinks, and live music. This blend of traditional market culture and modern entertainment has made it a beloved meeting point for locals and tourists alike.
The market is not only about commerce; it serves as a melting pot of cultures and a reflection of Jerusalem's diversity. The interactions between vendors, customers, and visitors create an engaging and unique cultural experience. In recent years, the market has also seen an influx of trendy boutiques, art galleries, and innovative food stalls, further enhancing its allure.
Visiting Mahane Yehuda Market offers not only an opportunity to indulge in authentic Israeli cuisine and shop for fresh produce but also a chance to witness the vibrant spirit of Jerusalem's residents.

You notice the beautiful, vibrant colors of the fresh produce, the joyful act of washing and preparing the produce, the thankfulness when considering the nutrition contained within the fruits and vegetables that fuel, maintain and heal your body, the kindness of the friend in your countryside “neighborhood” who thoughtfully harvested and generously shared with your family. Thank you for noticing the good gifts in the midst of all the pain, suffering, and challenges you face. Please keep noticing and acknowledging all of it—the painful and the pleasant.
It's been awhile since I've made a zucchini "pasta" dish for myself but I've been craving one and today was the day to eat it. I love eating fresh, raw foods. Although this one does have ground beef on top it's still deliciously fresh. It's no exaggeration to say I feel more alive and energized when I stay on track with fresh foods. I've been doing some projects with a new client involving food photography for a family cookbook. I've really enjoyed practicing in my own time and although I rarely post food pictures (if you remember the ones I used to have up then you've been with me since the beginning LOL!) I liked this one! It makes me feel fresh and alive just looking at it. So consider this a friendly reminder to eat your veggies today or at least to RSVP a spot for lunch with me next time;) Hugs to you all - Rachel
in the heart of valencia stands the central market, a vast expanse of over 8,000 square meters, making it one of europe's largest fresh produce markets. this modernist masterpiece, inaugurated in 1928, is a symphony of iron, glass, and ceramics, reflecting the city's rich architectural heritage.
amidst the bustling aisles, a fishmonger pauses, his hands stained with the day's catch. the soft light filters through stained glass, casting hues upon the fresh seafood displayed meticulously. the air is thick with the scent of the mediterranean, a blend of salt and sea. his face, weathered by years of labor, tells tales of early mornings and the relentless rhythm of the tides. in this moment, he embodies the spirit of the market—a place where tradition meets daily life, and where each stall holds a story waiting to be told.
Tomatoes are my favorite veggie to grow. This is a pic of one of last year’s plants. Still a favorite.

Another shot from the Masseria (which you can read more about here) and these beautiful olives are ones that I took at a Puglian market in the beautiful town of Martina Franca.

This is a snapshot I took at Asan Bazar, a bustling marketplace in Kathmandu. Asan Bazar, also known as Asan Tole, is one of the oldest and busiest marketplaces in the city. Located in the heart of Kathmandu, it features narrow alleys and lively streets adorned with shops, vendors, and traditional Newari architecture. The market offers a diverse range of goods, including fresh produce, spices, clothing, jewelry, handicrafts, and household items. It is renowned for its local and traditional items, attracting both locals and tourists. It is very hot in Toronto. I went for a short walk from my condo to our local Farmers' Market to support them and buy some of their produce. It is still not very well attended, not sure if that is due to the heat or COVID-19. There is a limit of 31 people allowed in at one time. Best seen large by clicking on the photo.
Thanks for visiting, staying healthy, connected and hopeful. #BeKind

This was taken by my friend, Brent, while he came to visit over 4th of July weekend in 2004. He shot lots of glamourous shots of me that weekend but this grabshot is my favorite. It's me in my natural element. In the kitchen, wearing a vintage apron, surrounded by produce just fetched from the greenmarket.
Roadside stands are a unique business venture in farm country. Can the produce be fresher or of higher quality than hand-picked, cleaned and sold within the hour?
Often these quaint stands involve a great deal of TRUST. The farmers, being very busy during harvest, often leave the stands unattended, trusting that honest people will be visiting, calculating their own bills and paying for their purchases.
We stopped at these two stands and happily made large purchases. The owners were present and they eager to converse about their businesses and life on their farms.
This booth sold fresh picked, plump, super-sweet cherries and very flavorful maple syrup. The first comment below shows a farm stand selling lavender products.

within the market hall of cabanyal, a vibrant district in valencia, this photo captures a quieter moment between the bustle. The stalls, usually vibrant with activity, are at rest, with tarp covers hinting at the end of a market day. A vendor is seen in the background, surrounded by an array of fresh produce, possibly tidying up after the day’s trade. The overhead lights and the structure of the hall frame the scene, showcasing the infrastructure that supports daily commerce.
