(capacity according to manufacturers data: 350 ml ... but it will spill if you put more than about 300 ml in it - this will do in the morning as my hubby doesn't drink coffee - don't know how he manages to get alive without a strong coffee : ))

What I was looking for I couldn't find, but I came across this little French Press which I think must be a Christmas ornament as it came with a little bit of ribbon attached to the top. I decided to use this but had nothing else that went with it in size (6cm high). I don't even have coffee beans in the house which look nice on a picture. So I decided to use only the ornament with a tissue paper background and it reminded me of backdrops for portraits. So I treated it like a mini portrait. The press does have a black handle, but I turned it towards the back as I didn't like the heavy look of it.

This idea popped into my head this afternoon and I figured why argue with an idea.
It was fairly quick to set up and once I was content that the frame was full but not cluttered it only took a couple clicks to get it right.

I noticed morning light slanting across the kitchen counter and realized that it was highlighting my shrine to caffeine.
Here's our French press, the bean grinder and behind is the K-cup brewer for when we're in a hurry.
Can't get the ball rolling without our caffeine!
I generally have 900 ml of coffee each morning via French press.
At night I set up the K-cup brewer for Kim so all she has to do is press 'play' as she gets ready to leave for the hospital.
When I haul my lazy heinie out of the sack, I eventually wander into the kitchen and start heating water and grinding beans.
Play with photos. Post to Flickr. Admire friends' photos.
Being retired is marvelous...

Every Christmas my sons ask me what I want for Christmas. I'm retired and I have everything I need and most things I want so I tell them to spend their money on the grandkids. That's never a very satisfying suggestion to them. So this year I suggested something that won't take up any room in an already overcrowded house, something consumable: Kenyan Coffee.
When we were working outside London, there was a coffee I used to buy and enjoy from, I believe Sainsbury's, that was Kenyan, but I hadn't had any for about thirty years so that was my recommendation, and what I got. Tasty!
I wish a Happy New Year and, of course, Happy Macro Monday to all!
BTW, for the admins, I measured this and it may be pushing three inches, but is within that limit (which is why I went square rather than rectangular).

I grind this at the Co-op where I shop. French Press ground coffee has larger granules than drip coffee.
Hermetic is when you prefer to stay sealed in your own house drinking Sumatran French Roast, right? I thought so.

i am preparing some of my photographs to be framed and hung at The Urban Tea Loft for the entire month of May (WOOT!), then working on some client photos and having a friend over in the morning and then moar businessey type stuff after that and then vacuuming my house and then picking my son up from school and then driving my photos down to the Tea Loft and hanging them on the walls and then later i plan to climb Mount Laundry and after that we get to take care of our little nephews for the evening.
this....is my life.
