Mabel, our four-year old Dogue de Bordeaux looks down with mad eyes, keeping a watch on her new housemate who's playing on the floor below her. She's not angry, just tired out from a play session, but hankering to get back down for some more!
If you hang out with multiple dogs, this will be a familiar sight. This French mastiff puppy is looking out from under his Airedale terrier friend.

Having a coffee first thing and Mabel was surveying her territory, made for a great shot whilst I was sat down on the patio.
This is Monsieur Hooch who is a Dogue de Bordeaux or a French Mastiff if you prefer. He and his brother Monsieur Hugo were resident in the hotel we stayed in for Phill's birthday. Their hugeness could be quite frightening but we knew of their existence before we booked and to be quite honest they were as soft as soft can be.
The Dogue de Bordeaux was known in France as early as the fourteenth century, particularly in southern France in the region around Bordeaux. Hence, the city lent its name to this large dog. It has been put to work in many different capacities, from pulling carts and hauling heavy objects, to guarding flocks and, historically, the castles of the European elite.
Not sure about these two's capabilities as they seemed stuck to their basket and chair only moving slightly when I tried to attract their attention for a photo. Hooch obliged but as you will see in the photo in the comments below, Hugo barely lifted an eyebrow.

Got to hang out with my buddy Nero again this weekend and couldnt help but take more pics of this awesome dog. I wasnt going to put any up, but I was messing around with some different things on Lightroom with this one and actually loved how this came out. Im not a big fan anymore of HDR stuff, and this isnt HDR, but it almost has a slight feel like that to it...but still a very natural look as well. Let me know what you think Flickr folks.
Roscoe is eight weeks old. Today I met him for the first time. He'll be about 150 pounds when he's fully grown.
(or French Mastiff). He is 14 month's old and looking mature. His name is Vauquois after a city in France.

Titan looks like one of the Miami retirees........who has tanned for far too long.

Had friends over the house tonight who brought over their puppy and asked if I would take a few pics for them.
He is a Dogue De Bordeaux, a French Mastiff, such an awesome puppy, getting him to hold still long enough to get good pics was a challenge though. He is full of energy and was enjoying his new surroundings, but I was still able to get a few good pics for them. Only putting a few up, hope all you dog lovers out there enjoy these.
Titan, our Independence Day Mastiff, wants all his Flickr friends to have a wonderful and safe July 4th holiday.
Titan looks like he wants to leap into my Nikon. I should get the kids to look this deeply at the lens. Geez...
Our youngest son (30!) had convinced Benson that the fan was a whirling monster and to save the household it had to be destroyed!
It was funny as hell, he was running around and jumping, but then realised he could get that much closer (almost too close!) from the settee, and I managed to grab this shot.
Gracie meanwhile the Saint Bernard just wondered what all the fuss was about.
The fact that he's lived with that fan for over two years didn't come into it, and I wonder what he will make of it again this summer! LOL.
Titan and Sade in their USA colors for today's Independence Day celebration.
Have 4th to all; and a special thanks to all those serving in our armed forces. Stay safe.
Guys...meet Rush! A 1 year old Dogue de Bordeaux that I shot for a recent client :)

After their next World Series win, and Joe Torre retires, Titan wants to manage the best team in baseball......his New York Yankees.
There is very little in the way of Photoshop work done to this photo. The biggest part (and I do mean BIGGEST) is the "lipstick" removal from Boudreaux in the front.
Melissa's son Ryder kept reaching for it during the session and we all continued to scream each time he got close (there's a lot of screaming involved in photographing French Mastiffs).
I'm getting pretty good at controlling the dogs but there are a few things beyond my ability and probably will be forever. Thank goodness for post processing.
