From Ginger's (our car) window, Lara gazes out at California's coast. This was taken on her birthday, so I did her hair, and we went thrifting in Orange, CA. We then trucked it up to the Griffith Observatory in LA, but the traffic was appalling, and it was kinda too late for a good view… so we went to Los Feliz, gorged ourselves on cake, picked up some liquor, and headed back to our shady motel.

We are rocking this trip like crazy! Currently in San Luis Obispo, and about to set out for Big Sur! Little time & access to the internet for the moment…

This 365 thing is getting boring and old.

I don't want to give up though.

Tomorrow is my last full day of school, then 4 days of exams.

And I bought my plane tickets for the Deathly Hallows Part 2 premiere in NYC.

I did a heavy oiling and a tucked french braid to keep my hair in place for work. The braid came out really neat and tight considering the heavy oiling.

This is my attempt at an awesome braid I saw on another little girl.

1. Make a pony tail, leaving out an inch-wide ring of hair all the way around the head.

2. Start at the neck using an equal amount of the loose hair and ponytail to make a french braid all the way around the head.

3. Done.

Estimated time: 30 minutes

I don't know if this is how it was done on the girl I saw, or if there is a better way to do it, but it ended up looking the same. This girl's hair is shoulder blade length, I haven't tried it on anyone else yet, but I bet it would be a lot harder with shorter hair.

My sister and I decided to bake a cake today. For those of you who don't know, she's four and half years old and since she was spending the day with me, I thought I'd have her help me with my coconut cake. She had a blast measuring things, stirring the batter, mixing everything together. But before that, I braided our hairs, so that none of them would get on the cake, God forbid. She kept saying we're 'braid sisters'! So adorable.

Long road but enjoying life with our healthy baby son. Glad also because I haven't lost any hair after pregnancy. More oiled hair pics to come...

Tangled braid.

Rainbow french braid. Not perfect, but getting better. I couldn't be bothered to smooth out the lumpy bits. I did this when my hair was dry. Would absolutely NOT have been possible when my hair was past my bum. Knots the size of golf balls would have formed right from the start and brought the whole thing to a screeching halt.

Simple french braid on top and put the ponytail in a bun, came out great.

With a white beard and an intense southern drawl, a gentleman inquired to Lara about the 'do I did. I love doing Lara's hair. If only she lived closer. If it seems like I have more photos of Lara than Scott—it's because I do. Scott is not generally a fan of being photographed. It takes some whining, some eyelash batting and beer- or videogame-related promises. Lara is much more accommodating!

Next time I will do a bun at the nape for a different look...

Came out pretty good considering how thick and tangled my hair was after shampooing...

Nothing special, I just french braided my hair on top and put the rest of it in a ponytail.

I'm having a hard time deciding which one of the many braids I have done is the best. This one has to be near the top of the list. Any thoughts?

First time doing a french braid in wet hair and it came out very tight and with a lot of sections. My hair was very curly after taking the braid out at night.

This time I french braided both sides and left the rest n a ponytail.
