Shot along the streets of Bordeaux, France with the Olympus E-M1.

This is the view from the incredible Grand Corniche as you drive towards Villefranche-Sur-Mer. Hard to make a lot of progress on the road and enjoy the incredible scenery at the same time.

Carcassonne is a fortified French town in the Aude department, of which it is the prefecture, in the Region of Occitanie.

Occupied since the Neolithic period, Carcassonne is located in the Aude plain between two major thoroughfares linking the Atlantic to the Mediterranean sea and the Massif Central to the Pyrénées. Its strategic importance was quickly recognized by the Romans who occupied its hilltop until the demise of the Western Roman Empire and was later taken over in the fifth century by the Visigoths who founded the city. Also thriving as a trading post due to its location, it saw many rulers who successively built up its fortifications, until its military significance was greatly reduced by the Treaty of the Pyrenees in 1659.

The city is famous for the Cité de Carcassonne, a medieval fortress restored by the theorist and architect Eugène Viollet-le-Duc in 1853 and added to the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 1997.

Cassis is a Mediterranean fishing port located in the south of France. Overlooked by a centuries-old castle, the town is famous for its pebble beaches and creeks with steep limestone cliffs. The harbor is lined with pastel-colored buildings, street cafes and restaurants. The local vineyards are known for the production of Cassis white wine. Trails cross the immense Cap Canaille with its rocky walls and offer a panoramic view of the sea.

The Calanques were formed 120 million years ago

To the west of Cassis, the Massif des Calanques consists of white limestone going down more than 400 m.

Marine valleys have been cut out, creating veritable miniature fjords, sometimes sheltering magnificent natural coves.

Strasbourg is not only the seat of the Europen Union parliament, it is also very beautiful.

Especially the old half-timbered houses in the Petit France district are a popular sight.

An unusually named passage directly underneath Fenchurch Street Station, City of London. It derives its name from the French Huguenots. Protestants who fled catholic persecution in France during the 16th and 17th centuries. Many settled in this part of London. An 'ordinary' is an archaic name for fixed price meals which were sold here when it was an open street, prior to the Great Fire in 1666.

The old Cannes France Lighthouse is white and yellow with a black base. It's in the center of the photo. The new lighthouse to the left is white with a red band and red lantern. It flashes three very quick red flashes every two seconds. The jetty was extended so they built a new lighthouse.

#phare #lighthouse #fyr #Cannes #France #Leuchtturm
