I used a Topaz Texture to add a little something to this sunset at Fremantle, as this is a common shot. Neli and Sarah, my nephew and his wife took us to Bathers restaurant on our last night in Australia. This was taken from the beach outside, looking across the bay to the lighthouse and beyond.

The maritime museum in Fremantle is a modern structure and I loved the detail of the supports for the over sailing roof. The colours and slenderness of some of the elements were wonderful.

A fine example of the distinctly rich style of the Gold Rush buildings is easily noticed like the fashionable privately owned Esplanade Hotel.

I have a series of photographs I took when walking through the port city of Fremantle south of Perth. It has a reasonable history attached to it and is actually the Port that my family arrived from England at in the early 70s. This is part of the maintenance precinct that services the Port. I love the lines and symmetry in this shot.

One of my favourite buildings is the Port Authority building at Fremantle Harbour. The lines and colours are so pleasing. I used my personal film settings in the Fujifilm XT3 for this.

These two old cranes are tucked in behind the maritime museum on the South side of Fremantle harbor. I liked the symmetry of the view from the deck around the museum from where this was taken.

Cafes, restaurants, boutiques, clothing stores, frozen yogurt. I am not enumerating the businesses and buildings of Fremantle, I am listing where we distributed some of our Australian spending money over the last few weeks. It's a charming area of Perth and where we have so far spent most of our leisure days when not travelling the countryside outside the city.

The Port of Fremantle is Perth's primary port and Western Australia's largest and busiest general cargo port. Located at the mouth of the Swan River, it operates through two harbours: the Inner Harbour, which handles nearly all of the state's container trade, vehicles, and cruise ships, and the Outer Harbour, located to the south at Kwinana, which specializes in bulk cargo. Despite its vital role as an economic driver, the port also has a rich history, having served as a gateway for immigrants and a crucial hub during the World Wars. The port is operated by Fremantle Ports, a Western Australian government entity. Its passenger terminal, which opened in 1962, has been a landmark for arriving travelers and cruise passengers, and is capable of berthing two large cruise ships simultaneously.

A look south from Leighton Beach towards the port of Fremantle on a smokey day. Illustrating the contrast between the industrial shipyards and the recreational beaches.
