This lady was in a wheelchair with her carer begging me to photograph her. Just look at that smile. The light shone out of her. Lesson to be learnt. I rest my case.
This is Adhene, a centaur mini Nature Spirit. Head, arms and torso are the mini Free Spirit pattern, the body is a horse pattern I worked out eleven years ago :-)
The pattern for the modifications to make this Mini Nature Spirit is available free on my blog at:
It has been a brutal winter for many of us in North America and Europe, so I felt a Spirit of Spring was needed, to help lift our Spirits :-)

The blocks on this quilt are 11" square (11.5" before seaming) and the sashing is 3.5" wide (4" before seaming).
This quilt is about 64" x 79".
Here the body has been snugged up on the 12mm eye shank. The collar that will keep this all together is shown here as well.
The collar has been pressed onto the shank of the 12mm eye. Press this hard onto the shank, and make sure it is well secure before you resume crocheting the rest of the body.
Body fully crocheted and beginning to stuff with fiberfill. As with all crochet toys, stuff firmly but don't let the stuffing show between the stitches.

I love all about this doll, the more I stare on her, the more she becomes adorable, they really did a nice styling on her. She has a long blonde hair that would be great for restyling, her outfit and accessories are nicely done, I love the denim fabric that they used for her vest, with the leather bag and those suede booty are just wonderful.

The third of three bathing ensembles, for a good friends Granddaughters for Christmas.
Doll pattern available free on my blog at:
I plan to get some of the bathing outfits up there soon :-)
Flatten the final round of the body and crochet it closed with 10 sc stitches. Just before you complete these stitches, check to see if you want to add a bit more stuffing.
Delicious! Spicy and Anna Maria Horner's ‘Loulouthi’ Summer Totem...The spicy curry solid paired with the pinks and blues and my favorite AMH print! This was a collaborative effort between me and my lovely daughter! Slave driver that she is, it all came together and we both ended up loving it!
I ended up quilting it in a funky rectangle design.
Okay, I admit it...spent the afternoon playing around with 'picnik' to see what you can do with your photo's for free. This was the result :-)
I wanted this to be a short-waisted dress, with a bit of fullness in the skirt (the lace part), so the lace is about one-and-a-half times longer (around) than the dolls waist.
To get an idea of how many stitches it takes to fit around the dolls waist, work chain stitches slightly loose until they fit around the doll where you want the bodice to fit, and count the number of stitches. For this example, using size 8 perle cotton and a size 8 steel hook, 40 stitches was about right.
So, with a contrasting color I am now working 40 sc evenly across the top of the lace.

Crochet the arms leaving a long tail at the beginning of the arm to sew the arm to the body. Cut a length of pipe cleaner twice the length of each arm; fold in half and twist the halves together. Insert into the opening at the end of the arm, then crochet the hand.
