Today, Danielle and I decided to venture into downtown Ottawa to see what all the "Freedom Convoy 2022" hubbub was about. We didn't venture close to where all the demonstrations were happening (I still avoid crowds like the plague) and stayed south of Laurier Ave.
Things were quiet (perhaps eerily so) and generally peaceful, save for the constant blaring of horns in the distance. From where we were, it sounded like a horn from a passing freight train, only constant.
We came across this Newfoundland-registered pickup truck-cum-convenience store parked on Metcalfe St. (at the corner of Gloucester) and couldn't help but notice the hundreds (thousands?) of signatures and slogans all over the truck, not a square inch uncovered. The first thing that came to mind was signatures people used to get on plaster casts after breaking an arm or a leg.
I wonder if Sharpie washes off...
Does it still echo the sound of democracy?

Sending love and light to all my Flickr friends wherever you may be. Despite all of the false news reports about the millions of Canadians who stood in solidarity, called the Canadian Convoy all kinds of derogatory names, many of us for the first time in a long time, experienced a sense of unity that far surpassed creed, race, religion, age, income, education, gender...there was dancing, community with the homeless,...and with the rigid resistance of our leadership's desire to communicate...it was an important reminder to know that democracy is not handed out by the government willingly...we must remain vigilant with our civil engagement and expectations and with ourselves. Democracy demands it.
Now more than ever, we must recognize the value, power and impact that each voice has. As the words came pouring out in this poem...I realized again that an emblem of freedom is ever a symbol of what can still unfold... nothing is fixed and static. We need to know our minds, bodies and emotions...design a world that will continue to uphold self-knowledge so all our gifts and talents may be cultivated to flourish and lift all of mankind. When the data world offers you a drop-down menu, choose something that isn't on the list...at least twice a day!!!

In solidarity with our brothers and sisters nationwide in the People's Convoy from California to DC, and our neighbors to the north of the Freedom Convoy to Ottawa, Canada, a peaceful, nonpartisan convoy & rally has been planned statewide in New Jersey from March 5th – March 6th, 2022.
This Salem County Fairgrounds DC Sendoff Finale event on Sunday, March 6th, will feature a live concert by New Jersey native musical artists and entertainment.
The New Jersey Convoy to DC plans also include a mid-route Welcome Rally on March 5th at the New Egypt Speedway at 6:30pm, at 720 County Rd 539, New Egypt, NJ 08533. Special guest speakers, entertainment, music, food, and fun will also be available at this event hosted by the North/Central NJ pages. :)

Santa, leader of The Real People's Convoy aka The 1776 Restoration Movement was arrested at The National Mall in DC today, and later released, during a protest.
The 1776 Restoration Movement (ex People's Convoy Controlled Opposition Puppet Regime Scammers) is staging a protest at the National Mall in Downtown DC. Leader David Riddell aka Santa was arrested this morning on warrants out of Maryland for blocking traffic on July 4th. The protest is still on going.

The Constitutional Coalition of New York State organized the event that coincided with meeting our Canadian friends on the Rainbow Bridge. There we heard from a number of speakers including Dr Paul Alexander who worked in the Trump White House and spoke from the Canadian side of the barrier in the middle of the bridge’s pedestrian way. US Congressman Chris Jacobs (R-NY#27) addressed both groups regarding the insanity of the continuing mandates. Alexander and Jacobs expressed their full support of the Canadian Trucker Convoy now in Ottawa.
Props to Border and Customs folks on both sides of the border for accommodating all of us on the bridge.
Happening around March 3rd. The People's Convoy Northeast Route arrive in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania at TA Truck Stop before they continue to Hagerstown, Maryland to wait overnight for The People's Convoy to arrive from California before they continue to DC to do laps around the Washington DC Beltway each day.
A Canadian-American friend, born in New Foundland, picked me up this morning. We met the Rolling Patriots in Tonawanda NY and rendezvoused with 300 freedom-loving people from around Western New York near the Rainbow Bridge in Niagara Falls NY.
