"I want to ride my bicycle bicycle bicycle;
I want to ride my bicycle;
I want to ride my bike; I want to ride my bicycle;
I want to ride it where I like...;
I don't believe in Peter Pan, Frankenstein or Superman;
All I wanna do is bicycle, bicycle, bicycle..."
Quote - Freddie Mercury
I have like Queen and David Bowie since my University days in the dim and distant past so when they collaborated on this song, which for me has been a great Lockdown song, in 1981, it was a rare treat!
In the summer past, I could drive along and sing along with Freddie Mercury and all the great Queen songs, releasing some of the pressure induced by the constant state of tension induced by the virus.
My lockdown songs are all the Queen and Bowie numbers but this one is special!

Freddie Mercury est le nom de scène de Farrokh Bulsara, né le 5 septembre 1946 à Stone Town, dans le protectorat de Zanzibar, et mort le 24 novembre 1991 à l'âge de 45 ans à Londres.
This is a tiny paper cutout of Freddie Mercury. The stage is a piece of grey foam with a flashlight through a colander for stage lighting. I tried and tried to find the owner of the original photo to give credit where credit is due but the search went in vain. I struggled this week but if anything I learned that I want to shine a flashlight through a colander for everything! All Hail the queen of Queen of queens! HMM!
We are the Champions 🎶 by Queen.. one of the greatest bands ever. I saw them in person on Long Island NY and wow.. I still vividly remember Freddie running back and forth across the stage. What a great performer!! Back to the pic - The background is the cover from one of their vinyl records. The Freddie Mercury figure is doing the victory pose. ;-) HSoS! :-)
March Of the Black Queen – A track from the Black side of the Album Queen 2.
Queen II was released in March 1974 and this particular track was written by the late, great and sadly missed Freddie Mercury. I was very young when the album was released and it was only as a teenager that I began to appreciate Queen as a Band. I have always loved this song, even though the band never really performed it live, and consider it to be one of my most favourite Queen songs!
I have managed to find a link to the song but be aware (in today's social climate) of some of it's vocal content. There are multiple chord and vocal changes within the song which lasts for approx 6 mins 30secs, and was probably Freddie's inspiration for Bohemian Rhapsody which came later. HMM.
I'm a big fan of Freddie Mercury - having a walk along the beautiful lakeside promenade in Montreux today this was a photo I had to take.
Many thanks for your visit 🙏

Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth"
Did you see Bohemian Rhapsody ?
A great heartbreaking movie … I’d say

Friends will be friends
When you're in need of love they give you care and attention
Friends will be friends
When you're through with life and all hope is lost
Hold out your hand
'Cause friends will be friends
Right 'til the end @FreddieMercury
Happy Birthday Freddie Mercury! m.youtube.com/watch?v=Fna56a_r41s Wishing you all a nice new week ahead. 😊

This pose makes a description of the picture superfluous. Anyone who loved him and Queen's music will recognise Freddie Mercury immediately. Immortalised in the form of this statue on the shore of Lake Geneva, he looks out over the lakes towards the sunset. Thank you Freddie, for everything.
Oh yes, I'm the great pretender
Pretending I'm doing well
My need is such I pretend too much
I'm lonely but no one can tell.
[...]
Ooh yes, I'm the great pretender
Just laughing and gay like a clown
I seem to be what I'm not you see
I'm wearing my heart like a crown
Pretending that you're still around...
[The great pretender - Freddie Mercury]

I'm knitting with only one needle
Unraveling fast it's true
I'm driving only three wheels these days
But my dear, how about you?
I'm going slightly mad......
It was 27 years ago that Freddie Mercury died. How I miss the man and his talent.

Freddie Mercury - 5 September 1946 to 24 November 1991.
Okay first thing - NO DISRESPECT. He bent it himself for the I Want To Break Free video, remember? I think he'd appreciate how good his legs look in this skirt.
But I have been wracking what little brains I have all week for my SL 'Ween costume. I think I peaked with Gru last year because nothing inspired me until I was talking with a Persian-American friend inworld - Cecelia. (And now that song is in your head too. You're welcome.) Persia... Freddie was a Zoroastrian... yeah it got there eventually. I legitimately tried recreating his most iconic look with the white tank under the yellow military jacket but I got annoyed and bored with it.
Until I remembered in near ecstasy that Sailor Freddie Mercury was a thing. Google it if you don't believe me.
So my Halloween cosplay this year is a loving tribute to the man who laid the soundtrack to my childhood, thanks to the neighbours who were both 1) Queen obsessed and 2) extremely inconsiderate with their sound system volume controls.
Particularly this time of year, it's unusual to get our Norwegian flights in daylight, this one from ARN.

If you are familiar with Freddie Mercury of Queen, you might have heard of Montreux, Switzerland. He spent a lot of time here, writing and recording, at his studio. The Queen song "A Winter's Tale" was written about Montreux also. Not far from where I was standing when I took this shot of Lake Geneva, there is a Freddie Mercury statue overlooking the lake.
