Here’s what the British Kennel Club’s Breed Standard has to say about a Border Terrier’s characteristics - “Capable of following a horse, combining activity with gameness”. Well he’s certainly met horses from an early age. He nearly gave me a heart attack when he broke into a horse paddock at around 7 months old but they didn’t mind too much. Now they tend to follow him. So do cows. It gets embarrassing…
Like all terriers he’s highly intelligent, independent, strong willed. Yes he will sit, stay, roll over and give you a paw. But throw a ball and that’s the last you’ll see of it. If he sees a fox or a rabbit you’ll be standing around on your own for a bit until he comes back. And the sleeping arrangements can be a little cosy. After all, what’s yours is his. Bed included. But he’s my best friend.
Oh but he likes a photo. On his terms. 3 times he had jumped over this log pile. But he got bored with that so this “shoot” was wrapped up until another day, which may or may not be before Friday. But he looks good right now.
