Frank White, Jr. (b. September 4, 1950) is a former MLB player, and coach for the Kansas City Royals and their AA affiliate, the Wichita Wranglers.

In 1980, White was the MVP of the American League Championship Series against the New York Yankees, leading the Royals to their first World Series appearance.

A smooth fielder, White was a five-time All-Star. He won the Gold Glove Award eight times, including six consecutive seasons from 1977 to 1982. In 1977 he played 62 consecutive errorless games.

White improved markedly as an offensive player during his career, hitting 22 home runs two years in a row, in 1985 and 1986. Since the 1985 World Series was played without the designated hitter, White hit cleanup during that series, in place of Hal McRae.

The best moment from that was when this little kid got up to ask a question and said, "Mr. White" (which made all the other players laugh and compliment the kid on being very respectful) "Um...Mr. White, what was your most embarrassing thing that happened to you when you were a baseball player." And he looked a little horrified and tried to get Willie Wilson to take the mike instead, which he refused and kept pushing it back saying, "no Mr. White, she asked you" and then "Mr. White" told a story about when he was playing in Boston and some guy from the other team (I forget his name) did a pop-up slide into second, which is when you slide into the base but pop right up. Well, the guy was wearing his hard batting helmet, popped right up into Frank White's chin and basically knocked him out for a second and Frank stumbled back and everyone came running over thinking he'd had a heart attack or something because they didn't see that the other guy's head had basically cold-cocked him.

Tribute to the Kansas City Royals' Frank White. Frank won EIGHT gold gloves and is one of the best fielding second basemen to ever live.

Take a look at my other tributes too - George Brett, Willie Wilson and Dan Quisenberry.

Frank White, Jr., who group up within view of Kansas City's old Municipal Stadium is honored by his hometown admirers at Kauffman Stadium. White was one of the slickest fielding second-basemen of all time, quick and smooth, making the impossible look routine.

2015 - Frank White is now active in community affairs, and was recently elected to the city council.

Five time All Star, Gold Gloves, Silver Slugger... that Frank White is not in the Hall of Fame is another black mark on that institution.
