HEART AND SOUL ♥️
The treasures that I keep, a Peltoceras, and a deep, dark, red heart; behind their secret walls enclosed series of chambers are hidden but necessitous to their existence. Perhaps, you might say, they had, at one time, a heart and a soul.
Heart and Soul
Heart and soul, I fell in love with you
Heart and soul, the way a fool would do, madly
Because you held me tight
And stole a kiss in the night
Heart and soul, I begged to be adored
Lost control, and tumbled overboard, gladly
That magic night we kissed
There in the moon mist
Oh! but your lips were thrilling, much too thrilling
Never before were mine so strangely willing
But now I see, what one embrace can do
Look at me, it's got me loving you madly
That little kiss you stole
Held all my heart and soul
Heart And Soul - Hoagy Carmichael - 'Big' Theme Tune
“I really can't stay - Baby it's cold outside
I've got to go away - Baby it's cold outside
This evening has been - Been hoping that you'd drop in
So very nice - I'll hold your hands, they're just like ice
My mother will start to worry - Beautiful, what's your hurry
My father will be pacing the floor - Listen to the fireplace roar
So really I'd better scurry - Beautiful, please don't hurry
Well Maybe just a half a drink more - Put some records on while I pour “
- Frank Loesser ( selected lyrics )
Bette needs no introduction; Loesser was a songwriter for movies in the 1940s but later scored such Broadway hits as Guys & Dolls and How To Succeed in Business, both of which were turned in big Hollywood musicals.
One of his biggest Hollywood hits was Baby, It's Cold Outside from MGM's Esther Williams hit, Neptune's Daughter.
Why they are seen together here is a mystery.
"THE MUSICAL COMEDY WITH A HEART AS BIG AS MANHATTAN."
Took the wife out for her birthday to see Darren Criss on Broadway!
As usual, an amazing performance by Darren Criss and a great performance from the whole cast overall. Funny, charming, and upbeat...it's a must see.
Definitely recommended.

What are YOU doing on New Year's Eve? This is the slightly lesser known of Loesser's holiday duets, and less controversial than the other one. I am a fan of the original silver-screen performance of "Baby, It's Cold Outside" by Ricardo Montalbán and Esther Williams, though Frank Loesser's first wife, Lynn Garland, was not. He originally wrote "Baby" as a duet for them to sing at holiday parties and she was upset when he sold the rights to MGM for use in Neptune's Daughter to be sung by the future antagonist of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. "What Are You Doing New Year's Eve?" is definitely the lesser of the two when it comes to suggestive innuendo.
Thanks to @double_lo7 for joining us on this! It takes three of me to hang with the vocalists on this!

"Clowning Brando gives low-comedy clutch to Frank Loesser, composer of original Guys and Dolls score who added a couple of new songs for movie."
"Vocalizing Brando gets singing lessons from Leon Cepparo. Studio is withholding recordings of his baritone voice to heighten public suspense."
"Smiling Brando watches Jean Simmons, also singing and dancing for first time, break up in laughter during rehearsal of If I Were a Bell number."
