There is a pump house off to the south side of this courtyard that was designed specifically to pump water to this pool which then redirects water to the moat in the living room which then redirects water to the reflecting pool in the west elevation of the house. Aline Barnsdall was not too fond of the algae smell that this created throughout her home, so she stopped filling the pool with water.

As you make your way along the trail that leads to the house, you hear the waterfall in the distance. Sitting peacefully behind yellow leaves, seeing the house for the first time took my breath away.
