The first structure built on the site, the Barton House was built for Darwin Martin's sister & brother-in-law. The design is a precurser to the Brown House in Evanston Illinois and the Ladies Home Journal house of 1905.

A Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Usonian home built in 1955 overlooking farmlands to the west. The house was originally designed with a V-shaped floor plan, but when the Arnolds had twins, Wright approved the addition of a third wing, making the house a Y.
