I took this vintage human still life shot in the hallway of the apartment building where I was living around 1974 using a Pentax K1000 film camera. It was surreal to me at the time.

Duveneck was born in Covington, KY. This statue, sculpted by Matt Langford, depicts Duveneck holding a framed picture of his wife Elizabeth, who died only 2 years after they were married in 1886. Many of his paintings are displayed at the Cincinnati Art Museum.

Sculptures by artist Frank Stella. Starting with computer models using 3-D printing, the models are refined by the artist in his studio and then sent to the Netherlands and Belgium where pieces are fabricated using shipbuilding technology. Those pieces are sent back to Stella's studio in the Hudson Valley where they are refined and painted with automotive paint.
Some of the pieces are created using fiberglass covered high density foam while others are made from aluminum.
The pieces were brought into the city on double wide flatbed trucks.
A westbound train on Canadian Pacific's Crowsnest Sub passes the Frank Slide. The remains of the slide which happened over 100 years ago still have a large presence as the huge boulders dwarf the passing train. If you look very closely, you can see my brother and good friend slightly to the left of the cab of the lead locomotive.

Germany, Hamburg, Alster, “Binnen Alster“, meaning literally Inner Alster.
For Hamburg the small river crossing the city is an important environmental feature & greatly defines its cityscape. Through ponding of the river in the 13th century, two artificial lakes, the Außenalster, Outer Alster & the smaller Binnenalster were created in central Hamburg. These two lakes & the surrounding parks serve as important recreational areas in the heart of the city.
The 1.6 km² large lake & the smaller lake, divided by two bridges, in the middle of the city, is the perfect place for sailing, canoeing & rowing; not just for sportspeople but also for city people who prefer a boat trip on a mild summer evening or just “hanging” around the lake for leisurely time & to relax.

"Seaside contemplation" was the title for this image Frank jokingly put forward.
A trip out to Clevedon to watch the sunset at the seaside and to generally escape Bristol city centre for a while.
This was shot for my first university project "such a strange calm" a magazine produced about escapism.
