Within the framework of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based violence and the United Nations’ HeForShe campaign, the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) Lagos, in collaboration with the Lagos State Ministry of Education and Strategy for Mentoring Initiative and Leadership Empowerment (S.M.I.L.E), a Non-Governmental Organisation, led the initiative to propagate the HeForShe campaign ideals in schools.

Speaking to a mammoth crowd of over 1,700 students, teachers, NGOs and media representatives at the open ground of Babs Fafunwa Millennium Senior High School, Ojodu Lagos, the Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Barrister Olufunke Oladunjoye pledged the support of the State for the HeForShe campaign and urged boys to respect the right of girls and stop any form of violence against them. In the framework of the National Model United Nations held in Azerbaijan on 20-23 February 2016, the simulation of the UN General Assembly on the case of strengthening of the UN system and reform of its main institutions was organised.

87 people participated in the simulation conference during four days. The sessions were moderated by Azer Abasaliyev and Turkan Mukhtarova. Two draft resolutions were submitted by the member states, one of which sponsored by Canada, Nigeria, France, United Arabic Emirates, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the United States of America, the People's Republic of China, Netherlands, Indonesia and Belgium was adopted by a two-thirds majority. As the result of the game, the participants were awarded with certificates. For their outstanding contribution to the committee the following delegates were awarded at the closing ceremony.
