When the Fragile Fern fiddleheads emerge, it's spring for me. This is the earliest I can remember them - early March has been warm this year

Color shots of fiddleheads to the right of this one in photostream or camera roll.

The word fragility is on my mind in all kinds of different contexts and that's the reason why it has become part of my new art-journal

I bought these flowers at the weekend with the intention of using them for a few photos. Tulips never last long, they start to go leggy and droopy and then lose their petals. This made me think of the title life is fragile but also because we have lost two of our stars* this week. As everyone knows, David Bowie lost his battle with cancer at the age of 69, earlier this week. I have just heard that the British actor Alan Rickman has also lost his battle with cancer, he was 69 too. Two very different but influential men.

*Stars is not a word I generally use for singers, actors or generally for people in the public eye, I think it's a word people use too lightly but I really feel these two men shone out and brightened a lot of peoples lives. They will both be greatly missed. RIP

We all have a dame like this in our past.

You know the kind.

The one that stole your heart…

Then, later, ripped it right out of your chest.

The face of an angel,

And the devil horns on top to prove it.

When you look into those eyes, you see heaven.

Hard to say how or when things went so bad.

And the answers ain’t at the bottom of a bottle, either.

It was brilliant when you met her.

Then that brilliance shattered.

Fragile.

A shot from the backyard this morning. There where a few more of these fellows, some with damaged wings, hence the title of my shot.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while, I got a bit out of the loop after finishing my project. Hope you like this one :)

“The breath of wind that moved them was still chilly on this day; the flowers gently resisted, curling up with a kind of trembling grace and turning their pale stamens towards the ground. The sun shone through them, revealing a pattern of interlacing, delicate blue veins, visible through the opaque petals; this added something alive to the flower's fragility, to it's ethereal quality, something almost human ,in the way that human can mean frailty and endurance both at the same time. The wind could ruffle these ravishing creations but it couldn't destroy them, or even crush them; they swayed there, dreamily; they seemed ready to fall but held fast to their slim strong branches-...”

Probably the crowd's favourite moment, the dancers balancing on the JCB buckets as they rose skywards. The dancers had guts to do it.

A frozen bloom this morning, nearly as cold as my fingers! I'm a bit late starting Project Flickr this year but my resolution is to try and keep up.! So apologies for posting late....

Fragile Threads

by Victoria Frazior, 1998

Our lives, embroidered into the fabric of time,

Nearly invisible in the length and breadth of space;

We execute our creation, stitch by stitch

Hoping for glory in its making.

We bind our memories, our dreams and our hopes

In tiny fragile threads,

Across the uncertain terrain of our lives.

Together we find courage and strength

To face our task at hand

Seeking solace in our quest

As those who have the eyes to see

And the ears to hear.
