Wind turbines have been erected all around my hometown. We are surrounded by hilltops and ridges, and we have a fair amount of wind on most days - from the gentlest breeze to gusts of 40 mph.

I, personally, am a huge supporter of environmental conservation and alternative forms of energy (except for hydro-fracking... fracking stupid, is that one!) and have welcomed the addition of these turbines to our area. In the the right lighting and weather conditions they fade into nothingness, or they can stand out as sentinels at dawn and dusk.

This is Anderson County, near Lake City. This is where we did our field work on April 1,2, and 3.

The white unmarked roads lead to bare patches - those bare patches are all gas wells.
