16 new pics- the freight gods were very good to me today.

Freestyle painted with Stalk. Purple and Gold for the Vikings. Stalk called me up about going out and rocking that night. I was down and asked if he wanted to collaborate on a little fr8 production. you know matching color sheme and shit. He wasn't really feeling it because he was trying to get rid of some old IronLak and all he had was Gold and some other color. I was like, why don't we just do some color skeme with the colors we have. I had done Gold pieces outlined in Red, back in the day, that looked pretty sick so I suggested we use that. He wasn't really feeling it and suggested we use a Blue or a Purple. I was like, That's it, we got our production. He was confused so I clarified it for him. Purple and Gold. Viking's colors. I told him I'd bring the purple and he would have to bring the gold and the yellow and some Green. We met up at the spot and began to rock our outlines. I told him when we were done with our outlines that we would have to fill in the green first and I showed where it was going to go. He still was a little bit iffy as to whether it would come off because he just wanted to rock something fast and simple. Finally I layed out the field and began to fill in the pieces. I went back and put down some yard lines and at first they were too close so I had to fill in some green to make them a little more evenly spaced apart. That's when he kind of realized what I was doing and it made sense. After we were done with our pieces, I had him put up the Viking Style in the middle while I did the goal posts. It took quite a bit longer then expected to rock these pieces due to the engine rolling through a couple of times but worked out in the end. You could say a Touchdown! I would have liked to do more but I think I'll plan another full out one for later in the season. We'll see. Also, I wasn't able to get a full shot of the car due to where the next line was layed up. You can find it on the H.R.Paperstacks site.

Painted in 1998. Don't remember much about this piece. It was probably done with Logik AKB. Pretty weird for me to not do highlights and shines in my piece, so, I either had to end this one early or was just trying something new out. Either way, I like the look of this hopper. This was when I was in my style of just adding a bunch of different bends to my bars. I probably only did this style for about 3 months but for some reason these pieces always seemed to turn up in places I least expected them to. Like mags and people caught them in their city. Which is always Ironic to me. Nobody ever seems to catch my really good fr8s or atleast it seems that way. For years people used to send me photos of my fr8's stating they were caught in Texas, Cali, New York and Canada, etc...... and I was always happy to see that they were getting caught but then when I'd look at the photo, I'd be like damn, that was my worst one that year. lol. It always seem to happen that way. I'm sure the others eventually got caught, it just never seemed like it. That's what I love about this Flickr. I have painted fr8's, got some terrible night shots and have been able to get good photos from people's Flickr accounts that they had caught rolling somewhere. So, I have give it up to the Benchers out there and give a big thank you to anyone that has caught and posted any one of my pieces or fr8's. Thanks guys. Keep up the Good Work! Peace.

Oldie but a goodie. Painted on a Flat Black Boxcar in 1994. Probably a freestyle but maybe based off a quick sketch. I was really just testing the waters at this time as to see how much time I could spend on a fr8 in this yard. This was painted in one of the most active yards in the Twin Cities. One that Monk and I frequently painted in the early to mid 90's. A great spot until Monk got busted in there when we were painting a hopper on a platform with Spel..... but that's a story for another day. I will never forget the sight of this Flat, Solid Black, Boxcar though. I was real crazy to see. I don't know if any freight companies out there still use this color but it just looked so ill seeing it. I want to say that it was a Rio Grande but it might have been a CNW. Either way, I wasn't going to pass up the chance to hit it. I'm sure the left panel was done by Monk. Good fun!

Happy National Train Day.
