In a somewhat battle scarred condition, after 3+ years offshore Brasil.
A purpose-built Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) tanker.
Following completion of a successful charter and decommissioning at the Atlanta oil field, in the Campos Basin, Brasil, the vessel was towed to Las Palmas by the tug 'Posh Falcon' (IMO 9624586) arriving on 21st February this year.
Amplus Energy, the Aberdeen based concern has now acquired the Petrojarl I from UK based Altera Infrastructure.
The ship will shortly undergo a multi-million US$ reactivation and readiness program at AstiCan ship repair yard, pending receipt of a suitable charter, and then, no doubt, further task specific commissioning work will be required.
At 39 years of age, there is faith that this very well known, and well travelled FPSO can still generate good income.

It is leaving within the week so I wanted to get a few photos before it goes. Production started in January 2002 and the field had an expected life of 17 years. Once it leaves there is speculation that it will not return. There was a lot of cloud fog and sea spray when I shot these.
A round FPSO North of the arctic circle 71 degrees North. 24 hours daylight & the midnight sun was producing some wonderful light. This FPSO is the only thing I've got to photograph!
Port of Rotterdam: The Xin Guang Hua with FPSO Western Isles on board arrived in Port of Rotterdamtoday (April 13th, 2017), a unique shipment from Cosco Shipping Heavy Transport.
The new semi-submersible vessel Xin Guang Hua sailed into the Calandkanaal, with the FPSO Western Isles production platform on board weighing 32,000 tonnes. It will be unloaded and be taken to Keppel Verolme in the Botlek.

In the background being fitted out by Tees Offshore is the new FPSO TRITON (floating production, storage & offloading vessel), IMO9161302, 59081 gross tonnes, length 244m, beam 42m, capacity of 630000 barrels, built by Kvaerner Oil & Gas for deployment in the Bittern field in the North Sea. She left the Tees on 17th March 2000. At the time of writing she is operated by Dana Petroleum.

The Shell Penguins FPSO (floating, production, storage and offloading) – the oil giant’s first new manned vessel in UK waters for 30 years – is finally due to head to the North Sea.
The 118-meter-tall platform weighing 32,000 tonnes was built in China by Offshore Oil Engineering Co. Ltd.
Penguins oil and gas field is located 150mi (241.3km) to the north-east of the Shetland Islands in the UK North Sea in 165m (541ft) of water.
The field is jointly owned by its operator Shell (50%) and ExxonMobil subsidiary Esso Exploration & Production (50%).
Penguins FPSO will have a peak production rate of 45,000 barrels of oil per day and a storage capacity of 400,000 barrels of oil.
It is expected to have an operational life of 20 years without dry docking.

FPSO is a floating vessel located near an offshore oil field, where oil is processed and stored until it can be transferred to a tanker for transporting and additional refining.

Ping Petroleum’s Excalibur FPSO, a Sevan SSP300 design, whilst the vessel is in lay-up preparing for redeployment to Ping’s Avalon Field in the Central North Sea. The FPSO is set to be upgraded to accommodate production from the Avalon field and, once commissioned, will be powered by a floating offshore wind turbine.

The Teekay managed FPSO ‘Petrojarl I’ arrived at Damen Shiprepair Rotterdam (DSR) in January 2015. The ‘Petrojarl I’, built in 1986, has been active in the North Sea. The vessel is contracted by Queiroz Galvão Exploração e Produção (QGEP) for redeployment at the Atlanta post-salt oil field in the Santos Basin, offshore Brazil, to produce heavy crude oil in a water depth of 1535 meter. For its redeployment as an early production system unit, the FPSO is being upgraded at Damen Shiprepair Rotterdam. In all, the vessel will spend a year at DSR before heading off to the Atlanta field in Brazil.

*Update 04/10/25 There are now some internet sites suggesting that she is not going to be scrapped now and is destined for a refit and further use? Interestingly her destination is Yalova Turkey.
The SeaRose Floating Production Storage and Offloading vessel is typically only seen in the White Rose Oil Field some 350 Kilometers Southeast of the coast of Newfoundland, however after over 6 years since its first barrel the time has come to get a tune up.
For the past few days she has been anchored in Conception Bay preparing for its voyage across the Atlantic for dry dock in Ireland. Harland and Wolff shipyard is one of only a handful of shipyards that can handle dry dock of this 272 meter long by 46 meter wide vessel because of its 80 meter high tower you see close to the bow. Harland and Wolff is also a famous shipyard known for building the Titanic...
Losing over 60,000 barrels a day in production the planned 125 day shut down better go as planned or we may see an increase in fuel this summer!
