FP1 was the first of the NSWGR FP series railbuses built from 1938 to 1970 for use on railway lines that did not require the use of a proper railmotor.
FP1 was constructed by Waddingtons in 1937 for passenger use and the following year converted into a pay bus and was used for the transportation of pays to the remote parts of the NSW railway system. It was withdrawn in October 1968 and given to the NSW Rail Museum for display. In 2008 it was restored by RailCorp apprentices and today it is on display as a static exhibit, however is in an operational condition.

Former NSWGR Paybus FP1 rolls backwards out of the museum siding at Thirlmere and into the loop, prior to departing for Couridjah. To celebrate Trainworks second birthday, shuttles were operated with the restored paybus between Thirlmere and Couridjah every Saturday over the month of April, 2013.
FP1 was the first paybus used by the NSWGR, having entered service in 1937 as a normal railbus for the conveyance of branch line passengers. In 1938, it was withdrawn from passenger service and converted to a paybus, to convey cash to various stations for the payment of railway employees. It is the sole surviving unit of an original fleet of six, restored by RailCorp apprentices and allocated to Trainworks, Thirlmere for display and operation.
