A very cool decor that could have come right out of the Star Trek Original Series. This is the north side of the lift foyer, on the top floor.
Inside the cheesegrater building, otherwise known as the SAHMRI (South Australian Health and Medical Research) building.

On chauffe au bois. Un homme (assis, on aperçoit son bras) veille à alimenter la chaudière. Un "antre" qui sert aussi d’entrepôt. Il n'était pas possible d'entrer, seulement jeter un coup d’œil de la porte, un aperçu néanmoins édifiant en étant attentif aux détails de la photo : expression et posture de l'homme, poussière accumulée, ampoule nue, décrépitude...

Our hotel in Vienna was really quite nice. This beautiful horse, stuffed and polished, was standing majestically by the lifts, facing the front doors. Not entirely sure how I feel about it... it is beautiful, but it isn't alive. It seems it is a fashion over there to have huge taxidermy on show. My step daughter is a taxidermy artist, and the largest thing she has done to date was a peacock, which was truly magnificent. Unfortunately she gave it away to someone else!!!

Impressie van een van de vele Foyers in de Dr Anton Philipszaal in Den Haag.
Ik heb me een aantal maanden geleden aangemeld bij de Vereniging Vrienden van het Residentie Orkest (vvRO).
Ons Haags orkest verdient steun, zeker nu op subsidies flink bezuinigd wordt.
Een van de voordelen van deze club is dat je bepaalde privileges hebt.
Vanochtend om 09.30 mocht ik al komen voor een repetitiebezoek van het orkest. Via de artiesteningang naar de artiestenfoyer waar we koffie kregen en om 10 uur op het balkon de repetitie konden bijwonen.
Het eerste pianoconcert van Brahms stond op het programma. Pianist Ronald Brautigam als solist bij het orkest dat gedirigeerd werd door Claus Peter Flor.
Het pianoconcert duurt tijdens een uitvoering ruim 50 minuten. Deze repetitie - regelmatig onderbroken door de dirigent die in het Duits en het Engels aanwijzingen gaf aan de musici hoe hij het gespeeld wilde hebben - duurde tot 12.10 uur.
Daarna begon om 12.30 uur het lunchconcert, gratis toegankelijk in de grote zaal, voor ieder die maar komen wil. Nu kregen we het eerste deel van het pianoconcert ononderbroken te horen. Schitterend, staande ovatie voor pianist, dirigent en het orkest.
Al met al bijna 3 uur onafgebroken naar dat ene pianoconcert geluisterd. Het kostte wel eventjes tijd om om te schakelen op het gewone stadsleven, toen ik om 13.00 uur druilerig Den Haag weer voor me zag en verkeersgeluiden hoorde.
The Fall of Foyers is a waterfall on the River Foyers, which feeds Loch Ness, in Scotland.
The waterfall has a fall of 165 feet into a natural ampitheatre. This causes an extrordinary amount of spray which swirls vertically upward and makes getting the shot I wanted almost impossibe. Fortunately the D3's pretty tightly sealed.
It is located on the lower portion of the River Foyers The river enters Loch Ness on the East side, North-East of Fort Augustus.
The flow over the falls has been much reduced since 1895 when North British Aluminium Company built an aluminium smelting plant on the shore of Loch Ness which was powered by electricity generated by the river. The plant shut in 1967 and the site is now part of a Pumped-storage hydroelectricity system.
In the center of the richly decorated ceiling of the entrance hall of the Natural History Museum Vienna is an opening through which one can see up to the dome, approximately 40 meters high. Portraits of important figures in the collection's history are arranged around this opening.
