This little lady had obviously become separated from her herd. We heard her neighing loudly in the distance. She then came galloping through the gorse. Stopped dead: let out another loud whinny and with ears foward, listened for a reply and then galloped off again. She was probably so engrossed in munching the grass, she missed them moving off. You see/hear it with the cows as well when one gets separated. They will moo loudly until they find their herd
This road is called Cat walk. The cat walk is used to walk from accommodation of the ship to the Foward most of the ship. The cat walk has railings and supports during rough weather.

This was a fun year! Thanks to everyone that participated and followed along.
We will be posting a new list in January. I look foward to 2024 with you all! ❤️
Another species I love doing folks and had the privilege of being able to spend some time with them in many differences in behavior as you will see.
Thank you for visiting everyone and as always have a great day.
Thinking of going back to my Nikon equipment very soon so you may see some changes in the Exif Data.
And on we stride into the glory’s unknown with our head held high and our hearts beating proud...must be something in my morning coffee🤔
A lot of my heron pictures this year are taken from a kayak and when I see a heron on the water's edge, it is not always possible to stop the foward movement of the kayak in time to not scare the heron away. In this case, he loudly let me know that he was not happy. I totally understand.
Thank you kindly for your visits and comments.
Merci de vos visites et commentaires.
An early morning shot of the Grand Teton mountain range.
This is a handheld multi-exposure image that was taken with a Nikon D70 using autobracketing and then blended with Photomatix software. One shot was over-exposed, one under-exposed and one correctly exposed in an attempt to capture the nuances of the light and color....
I hope you will view this at the larger sizes so you can experience some of the grandeur of this magical place on Earth.
Update: This is an old photo, Click Here to view an updated photo of what I'm shooting with now.
I shoot Canon... it seems once a year a take a photo of some camera gear, this would be the photo for the end of 2008. Most everything in this shot isn't needed to take a great photo, gear doesn't take great photos... I should also add that while this gear wasn't cheap, it's more than paid for itself. I use other camera gear as well, but this is the Canon class of 2008 photo.
As to what's in the photo:
Camera:
Canon 5DMkII w/ grip
Canon 5D w/grip
Canon 50D w/ grip
Canon 20D w/ grip
Canon Elan 7 w/ grip
Lenses:
Canon 16-35mm f/2.8L MkII
Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L
Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS
Canon 15mm f/2.8 fisheye
Canon 35mm f/1.4L
Canon 50mm f/1.4
Canon 85mm f/1.8
Canon 100mm f/2.8 macro
Canon 135mm f/2L
Flashes:
Canon 580EX II x 3
NOTE: I'm not super happy with this photo, I used a borrowed lens/camera for the shot which kept producing less than sharp results.
Tech Details: This was pretty straight foward... Two White Lighting X1600's 45 degrees off shot into softboxes, triggered with pocket wizards and taken with a Canon 30D and 24-70mm lens.
NOTE: This photo made it into Flickr's 'Explore" as one of the top five hundred most interesting photos on a particular day. You can see all of my photo's that have made it into the Flickr Explore pages here.
“Nothing for the Elkhorn Turn today”
Just after sunrise some 30 + years ago, You would find Mr. Moore and crew in Lambert’s Loader at Wakneva listening to various 8 track country tapes and loading “clean” Dickenson County coal into CSX mtys. They would drop them north from above the tipple in pairs, eventually loading a daily max of 22 cars for the Greenbrier or Elkhorn Turn to pick up on their evening trip south back to Dante.
Fast foward to 2021 and this iconic Clinchfield tipple has been torn down for almost 2 years. The track remains but I wouldn’t expect it to last much longer with CSX’s recent appetite for ripping track up. I sure am thankful I got to enjoy this historical place growing up.

Just another view of the path that move snakes around the trees and the park. Its a path I walk many times a day, and I still look foward to the next trip.
So a couple of weeks ago one of my colleagues at work brought me in the Samsung Virtual Reality Glasses(as his brother works in their PR Dept) as a surprise for my birthday as he had a feeling I would love it. Guess what my fine flickr friends...He was Right !!!....I put them on and for the next 15 minutes ...I just uttered the same three words over and over and over again....OMG, OMG, OMG .....it totally blew me away and I wanted to 'stay' in there and go on virtual adventures over and over again.
First I was hanging off the bottom of a helicopter flying 500 feet over the glaciers of Iceland. A few minutes later I was in a pre-historic forest with a huge dinosaur a few feet away from me and I could not turn my head and look at him as I was so terrified and it was soooooo real....in fact it felt more than real - Reality Mark 2. I cannot even begin to describe what a gamechanger this VR is going to be after experiencing it. I spent hours afterward trying to decide which glasses I am going to get with apparently the coolest and best ones coming out in March. Take my word on this...go in to a Samsung shop and try these things on....NOW. They are also making consumer friendly 3d cameras being released shortly too....think of the possibilties !!
So its nearly February already, been so busy with work ....have I stepped in to a invisible time machine that is on permanent fast foward ????
Still working on this cataloging business when I get a spare moment - and trying to figure out a Rosiefriendly way of doing it.
I know in years to come (which may be any minute in my life the way things are going) there will be a clever Virtual Reality System that I put on my headset and 'walk' into my Chamber of Photos and sort them out quickly and easily and it will look like this wonderful old library in the centre of a spaceship that is hurtling around the universe. What will your virtual library look like ?????.
As part of the cataloging process (can I say that I hate it ) I am coming across shots that I did not upload on flickr - and this is one...look at that magnificent surf and there is the Kingdom of Bondi right at the end of it .
Beachy Head Lighthouse, East Sussex, England.
The original Belle Tout lighthouse was built in 1832 and came into operation on the 11th October 1834.
Over the years, erosion of the cliff reduced the effectiveness of the light and in the late 1800s it was decided by Trinity House to build a new lighthouse at the base of the Beachy Head cliffs.
Work began on the new Beachy Head lighthouse. It was built using a coffer dam which helped keep the groundworks protected during construction and materials were winched down in a large bucket. On the 25th February 1902 the last stone was laid, and the lighthouse finally operational and was first lit on the 2nd October 1902.
The tower is made from Cornish granite and did not always have the red and white stripes. It was originally granite colour, then a black stripe was added and then finally it was painted red and white to make it more prominent as a day mark.
The height of the tower is 43 metres and has a first order 920mm asymmetrical catadioptric optic which produces a white flash every 20 seconds. It has a range of 8 nautical miles.
The Beachy Head lighthouse was electrified in 1920 and completely automated in 1983. It was the end of an era for the keepers who had watched over these shores.
Getting this angle of view wasn't straight foward as it meant going beyond the safety barrier and climbing down the cliff side around 20-30 feet....not recommended if your not fond of heights....
I'm surpised I managed to get a reasonably clear shot given the exposure time and a howling wind behind me, but I managed to shelter my camera with yours truly....:-)
Thanks for viewing and have a great weekend :-)
Her beautiful hand has been creating amazing pictures. She was shooting an old man who draws the ocean view from the deck at this moment. I'm always looking foward to seeing her great work.

my hands were cold. not the cold you feel in winter on those early foggy mornings. but the cold like something was wrong. unaware of what to do; how to breathe; i walked onwards. there was no one. just my breath; worn, haggard, broken. i looked high. searching for what i wanted to see. not that i knew what i wanted. my mind was a frenzy - back and foward. back and foward. my neck, craned, held my head to search for the one thing i wanted to see. and, through the mist and trees, i found it. a small star breathing its own life. the star gave me hope, life. for that moment, my breathing stopped and there was nothing but the wisp of the unreal. with my head still tilted high, i felt my mouth turn into a slight smile. then, i looked away, lowered my head, and once again, my broken breathing continued.

Wednesday May 20, 1998
Well I left home this morning at 8:45am…
I left behind family, friends, loved ones, a warm bed etc…for what? For Adventure!
I have to admit, however, that it feels really weird being out on the road alone. It’s now only 6:30pm and already I feel like I’ve been gone days. Today was pretty good though. I took 84 to 81 south through Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia into Virginia - then I took a bit of a detour. I saw signs for the Shenandoah Sky Drive and since I was fed up with driving on the interstate I decided to investigate. It was worth it.
The Shenandoah Sky Drive is a 50+ mile road running through Shenandoah National Park over a series of mountains all above 2000 feet and some as high as 4000. The views of the surrounding peaks and valleys were spectacular! Not to mention the wildlife. I saw a ton of white tailed deer, a wild turkey…and are you ready for this? A black bear! He was standing alongside the road looking at me as if to say “what the hell are you doing in my forest?” I kept on driving - I wasn’t in the mood to be mauled by a bear today. Anyway, my first day on the road was an awesome one. Now all I have to do is find a place to sleep tonight.

Looking back, I think this was a fitting way to end my first day out - looking west at the sun setting and all of the seemingly endless country out there before me. It was 1998, I was 21 years old.

If your wondering what the heck this is all about, go here.
2009.......a year of changes, challenges and extreme happyness. This little guy turned my life upside down. He arrived, took me by storm and changed my life right away. Everyday he gives me a smile first thing in the morning and my day is perfect no matter what. I always look forward to spend some time with him, he rocked my life for sure. My wife and Iker are my two reasons to keep trooping everyday. Work was very challenging to say the least. My work is related to the construction business and it ended down about 70% from last year...ouch!!
2010.......we both have a full plate already. My wife finishes law school this summer, then she's going for the bar exam. She has several books she has been writing and we're working on pushing them to a publishing house. For me work will probably be as challenging as last year, but an unexpected year end reunion might change everything. Something that has been a target for me during the past 10 years and it might become a reality this year. So we have a lot to look foward on 2010, time to focus, time to work hard, time to play hard with Iker. I will be starting a couple of projects here this week.....I'm just undecided which one.
Anyway, wishing everyone a Happy New Year and a kick ass 2010 for all.
Doesn't this look like film?! :D
Ahahaha, I wish it was :( I've wanted a flim camera for soooo long :( I just added "film grain" effect when I edited it :P But I really like dis(:
Another mental breakdown last night. I feel uslessss and unproductive and like a failure and I just keep comparing myself to others, which I can't do, because it makes me feel even worse. "Why can't I pass Chem?" and "Why can't I find a job?" and "Why does having a degree in art get you no where unless you photograph models?" and "Why did I have to get a hair cut?" and "Why do I have to make stupid, little choices?"
My heart feels empty...
~Alssssso...I didn't make it to divisions in track :c Its made me really, really upset. I got 13:O2 at our last meet for the 3OOO-seven and a half laps.
My award ceremony, for winning the photo contest is next week and I'm really, really, really looking foward to it(: Hopefully my mom will sew up the hole in my favorite dress so I can wear it :D Its next Thursday!(:
I took a chem test today and I actually thought I did...Really good...But, usually when I feel like that, I fail...No matter what the subject, you know? :P SAT scores in nine days...This being anxious-ness is killing me. I just pray that I got at least a 9OO :I
Haven't been getting along with my parents lately. I'm only happy when I'm with my friends and fighting with them has really been making me upset, my mom won't even talk to me :I
I sooo very wish I could sew my own clothes D;
Byeeee

IT'S LONG BUT SUUUUUUPER IMPORTANT!!!
Whooo!!! Alright, so Christmas is on it's way right? Right.
And what's one thing that people love about Christmas? The presents. I don't care if you're a Christian or not, we all love presents. Can I get an amen? ::gets an amen::
So, what is Ileana trying to say you might ask? I'm trying to say that we all love getting gifts. BUT.... here's a new challenge. How about we start giving 'em out instead? BUT.. wait... there's more! How about we give them to people we don't even know. How about we brighten up someone's day and help them with something. Maybe buy a coffee for the person behind you at Starbucks or 7/11. Maybe buy an Apple Pie at Mickey D's and tell the cashier at the Drive-Thru to give it to the car behind you. How about you pick up the tab for the young couple eating next to you at Applebee's. How about you go to Publix and pick up a gift card and pay for the groceries for the single mom behind you. How about treating the janitor at your job to some tasty Chick-Fil-A or maybe a salad if they're vegeterian. Can you imagine how this would feel? Well, it feels amazing so stop imagining!
Well, why don't we do it? I know I'm doing it. I know that me, and thousands of people ACROSS the globe are doing it this year. Just a couple days ago, www.thegiftrevolution.com was launched. We've got 30 days to inspire the world and pay it foward. Now you might be saying, sheeshh... doesn't she know how tight people are for money these days? Doesn't she know that I don't have room to be spending money here or there? I know how it is and that's why it's even more rewarding! The Lord instructs us to give and He tells us that if we give, He will bless us more than we could imagine. These things you can do don't cost that much. A cup o' joe at 7-11 is a couple bucks. An apple pie at Mickey D's is a dollar. However, making a kingdom impact in someone's life is priceless.
Make presents for your family and friends like you did when you were a little kid. A scrapbook, a homemade card, a Pecan Pie if it's your fancy. Save up your money and use it to make an impact in other people's lives. Random people. Strangers, but I can guarantee you that they will appreciate it. Maybe not a year and a half ago, but in today's economy... people are hurting... people are broken. Get out there and join the www.thegiftrevolution.com
Get the word out and pay it foward!
If you go to the website (www.thegiftrevolution.com) you can order the cards or you can print them out yourselves if you have a printer at home. When you do your good deed and do something for someone, all you need to do is give them the card. So for example, today I went to Starbucks. I gave the cashier a five dollar bill and the Gift Revolution card, I told her to give it to the next person who came inside the store to order something. A lady walked in ordered a double tall latte and alas, she was given the Gift Revolution card. No strings attatched, she was shocked and said she was going to pay it foward as well. That's the thing. We can indeed inspire people to pay it foward this holiday season.
If you've got ANY questions, flickrmail me up buddy! The site's got a bunch of stories and examples of what has happened in just two days since it was launched We can do this thing and I'd love to have my flickr buddies on board! Yeah!!!
The challenge? Change someone's life and do at LEAST one act of kindness a day. I promise though that when you start, you won't just be doing one a day. I so know we've got some over-acheivers here!!! :D
I'm raving for the people who have done this and who are going to do this and make a difference. YOU ALL ROCK!!!
