This sculpture is a representation of Christ's victory over Death when He was crucified on the hill called Golgotha (or 'the place of the skull').
On top of the skull are scriptures that speak of the crucifixion, salvation, His resurrection, etc... The two scriptures on the forehead read: "And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven..." and "I am he that liveth and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death..."
The two hanging keys represent the keys of heaven and hell.
The red nails represent all the sins He took upon himself at the cross.

found object assemblage
If you note the disparity in number of skulls and the number in the title,
it's because the viewer is the Thirteenth skull.

I love shells; I love roses. And beads. And adding gold finishes. These are objects that were in my classroom, and I wanted to put the artificial roses together with shells I've found. I added acrylic gloss medium and "Emperor's Gold" paint. It's about 6" in height, and about 4 1/2" wide in either direction.

This is the latest addition to my side-yard & it's apprx 7' tall. The 3 stainless steel pyramid lookin things can be thought of as industrial funnels. The 2 hubcaps (+2 unseen) each have their own unique silver & black design.
