oh well; he;ll be home for the FOLSOM STREET FAIR and to blow his FLICKR views out of this world::::,
Found underneath the first floor stairway (ceiling of the basement stairway.)
This is a very fragile piece of paper. Obviously not the sort of paper blueprints are typically made with. It looks to me like this may be a design for a tower made of toy blocks, perhaps. Anyone know better?
A camera lens mounted on a large hinge and a big key laid across. The red things are electronic elements. There is a little oriental face looking out thru the lens. The shutter and aperture settings work.
I was crossing the street, Broadway I think on the Upper West Side when I spotted this fork wedged almost under a corner trash can.
Down by the station I found this “unaccompanied package” sitting on the platform; a small bag full of envelopes. A sign on the bag read, “Please don’t remove. Property of WSEC road rally.” Aha, a road rally! Road rallying is a sport where individual cars are sent off on a timed course on public streets where drivers gain points by 1) sticking to the route, and 2) keeping as close to the times required to get between points. The timing is set up to prevent drivers from speeding, and going too fast between points earns a penalty. Checking on the web I discovered that the WSEC is the Westmont Special Events Council, so apparently this was officially sanctioned by the good folks of Westmont. Pretty cool, but I do have to question the wisdom leaving the bag (which contained either instructions on how to get to the next point or proof that a point had been passed) on the platform. We’re constantly being warned to watch for stuff like this and then the village officially sanctions it!
There is a magic and harmony of recycling found objects then sewing them onto my handmade paper to create a relaxing but dynamic collage. As i was working on it I felt a sense of gentle balance between the process and the outcome.
This piece is an Original 8" X 11" made on handmade paper that I made myself in my studio using cotton and abaca fibers. It is internally sized and also gently covered with a fine coating of micro-Crystalline wax to protect the surface and enhance the pastel color.

This guy is mounted on a piece of cast iron rake and misc. petal. The doll head is painted and the leaves and flower are cut tin.
I've been trying out new iphone apps. This is with one called quadcam. You can choose from a few layouts, and it takes multiple exposures. You can set the delay time between exposures, from 0-3 seconds, and the color, or lack of. I'm having lots of fun with it. The results are scattered among this recent batch of photos, taken on walks around Portland and an excursion to the woods.
Another of our mixed media robot sculptures. This one is made with spoons, a vintage tart tin, a bandage tin, and other great stuff. She is mounted on an electrical box which contains an LED so she serves as a night light, too.
