Reflection of Winter Stillness
A quiet morning on the Korana, the kind that happens only when winter freezes every sound and the river becomes a mirror that whispers in the rhythm of the clouds.
The long line of poplars, slender and silent, stands like a gentle winter procession. Each of them carries its own story, and all of them are reflected on the river’s surface — perfectly, motionlessly, almost unreal.
Where the mirror breaks at the small waterfall, the photograph begins to breathe: the upper part remains calm, while the lower part becomes the rhythm of the water.
The wide-angle view of the Canon R7 and the RF 16mm captured the entire winter day in a single panoramic sentence — from the pontoon bridge, across the old wooden bridge, all the way to the quiet left bank.
This is the Korana as we don’t see it every day. Pure, simple, beautiful.
Odraz tišine uz jablane
Mirno jutro na Korani, ono koje se dogodi samo kad zima zaustavi svaki šum, a rijeka postane zrcalo koje šapće u ritmu oblaka.
Duga linija jablana, vitkih i tihih, stoji kao u nekoj tihoj zimskoj procesiji. Svaki od njih ima svoju priču, a sve se one preslikavaju na površinu rijeke — savršeno, nepomično, gotovo nestvarno.
Tamo gdje se ogledalo lomi u slapiću, fotografija diše: gornji dio ostaje mir, donji postaje ritam vode.
Širokokutni pogled Canon R7 i RF 16mm uhvatio je cijeli zimski dan u jednoj panoramskoj rečenici — od pontonskog mosta, preko starog drvenog mosta, sve do tihe lijeve obale.
Ovo je Korana kakvu ne vidimo svaki dan. Čista, jednostavna, prelijepa.

Ova fotografija prikazuje pogled s rive malog primorskog mjesta Šilo, smještenog na istočnoj obali otoka Krka. Nasuprot Crikvenice, s kojom je Šilo povezano brodskom linijom, ovo mirno mjesto odiše šarmom starog ribarskog naselja. Iako danas ima sve više vikendica i turista, Šilo i dalje zadržava svoju opuštenu, autentičnu atmosferu.
U prvom planu ističe se vezni bitv, svjedok svakodnevnog života uz more – ribarenja, dolazaka brodova i ljetnih užurbanosti.
Idealno mjesto za one koji traže mir, lijepu prirodu i onaj pravi, nenametljivi jadranski ugođaj.

Although it has grown in popularity with tourists and holiday homes, it still keeps a calm and authentic vibe.

Même si les résidences secondaires et les touristes y sont de plus en plus nombreux, le lieu a su préserver son atmosphère paisible et authentique.

Dok vani bijesni proljetna nevera, u noćnoj smjeni nastojim ostati budan – i pronaći ljepotu u svakodnevici. Ova fotografija nastala je u jednom od onih mirnih trenutaka prije oluje, na malom pristaništu gdje ribari i ronioci dijele obalu i posao s morem.
Na prvi pogled sve izgleda razbacano, ali svaka gajba ovdje zna što nosi. Mreže su sortirane, konopi spremni, a plavi kontejner vjerni je čuvar stotine malih priča s mora. To je taj muški kreativni nered – organiziran kaos jednog pomorskog dana.

While a spring storm rages outside, I’m on the night shift trying to stay awake – and finding beauty in everyday scenes. This photo was taken in a moment of calm before the storm, at a small dock where fishermen and divers share the shore and the sea.
At first glance, it might look like a mess, but every crate here holds something specific. The nets are sorted, the ropes coiled, and the blue bin is a silent witness to countless seafaring stories. It’s that male creative chaos – organized disorder in a seafaring life.

Tandis qu’une tempête de printemps fait rage dehors, je tiens ma veille de nuit – en cherchant la beauté dans la routine. Cette photo a été prise dans un moment de calme avant la tempête, sur un petit quai partagé entre pêcheurs et plongeurs.
Au premier regard, tout semble désordonné, mais chaque caisse ici a sa fonction. Les filets sont triés, les cordes rangées, et la poubelle bleue garde les souvenirs de mille aventures maritimes. C’est ce qu’on appelle le désordre créatif masculin – un chaos bien organisé du quotidien marin.

Während draußen ein Frühlingssturm tobt, halte ich meine Nachtschicht durch – und entdecke die Schönheit im Alltäglichen. Dieses Foto entstand in einem ruhigen Moment vor dem Sturm, an einem kleinen Anleger, den Fischer und Taucher gemeinsam nutzen.
Auf den ersten Blick wirkt alles chaotisch, doch jede Kiste hat ihren Platz. Die Netze sind sortiert, die Seile bereit, und die blaue Tonne bewahrt still Geschichten vom Meer. Das ist dieses kreative männliche Chaos – geordnete Unordnung eines Lebens am Wasser.

Mientras afuera ruge una tormenta primaveral, yo paso la guardia nocturna intentando mantenerme despierto – y descubriendo la belleza en lo cotidiano. Esta foto fue tomada en un momento de calma antes de la tormenta, en un pequeño muelle compartido por pescadores y buzos.
A primera vista, todo parece desordenado, pero cada caja tiene su propósito. Las redes están organizadas, las cuerdas preparadas, y el contenedor azul guarda silenciosamente historias del mar. Eso es lo que llamamos caos creativo masculino – desorden con sentido de una vida junto al mar.

Mentre fuori infuria un temporale primaverile, durante il turno di notte cerco di restare sveglio – e trovare la bellezza nelle cose semplici. Questa foto è stata scattata in un momento di calma prima della tempesta, su un piccolo molo dove pescatori e sub condividono il mare.
A prima vista sembra tutto in disordine, ma ogni cassetta ha il suo ruolo. Le reti sono ordinate, le corde pronte, e il bidone blu custodisce silenziosamente storie di mare. Questo è il caos creativo maschile – disordine organizzato di una vita marittima.

Die Tage der RAlpiercer 186 901 – 910 sind gezählt und so endet das Mietverhältnis bei SBB Cargo International noch im Verlauf dieses Jahres. Die zehn Traxx MS2e verlassen SBBCI bis im Sommer 2024 schrittweise und gehen an den Besitzer Akiem zurück. Die Lokomotiven stehen seit Fahrplanwechsel 2020 – 2021 hauptsächlich im Rola-Verkehr zwischen Freiburg und Novara im Einsatz und wurden eigens dafür auch einseitig mit einem modifizierten Logo der RAlpin AG beklebt. Grund genug nochmals jagt auf die einzige Sonderlok 186 909 «Monte Olimpino» zu machen, welche den meisten auch als Nightpiercer bekannt sein dürfte. Am 13 Februar 2024 gelangte die 186 909 mit Zug 43701 entlang des Thunersees in Richtung Italien.
Pretpostavljam da je ova slika snimljena oko 1914., s namjerom da je pošalje svom suprugu Ivanu, kad je stigao u SAD, nekoliko mjeseci prije početka I svjetskog rata. Uvjeti na Braču, tada dijelu austrougarske monarhije, prisilili su mnoge na emigraciju. Nona Katarina je ostala u Postirima, sa sinom Petrom, devetogodišnjakom i kćeri Barbarom (mojom majkom) u dobi od pet mjeseci. Katarinin život nije bio lak. Ivan se vratio u Postira nakon više od deset godina. Umro je mlad.
I suppose this photo was taken with intention to send it to her husband Ivan, about 1914, as he arrived to USA, few months before the WWI started. The conditions on the island of Brač, those days the part of Austrian Hungarian monarchy, forced many people to emigrate for economic reason. Nona Katarina remained in Postira with her son Petar, nine years, and daughter Barbara (my mother) five months old. Katarina's life was not easy. Ivan returned to Postira after more than ten years. He died young.

Auf der Jagd nach den neuen Orion Fahrzeugen die seit Fahrplanwechsel fix am Oberalppass eingeteilt sind, gab es auch mal die Möglichkeit etwas spielerisches umzusetzen. So ist es der ABeh 8/12 304 an der Spitze und 305 mit Taufname «Gornergrat» welche sich am 18.12.2023 den Oberalppass heraufschlängelten.

Sjena i svjetlo razgovaraju bez riječi.
Crno-bijela fotografija koja me i danas vraća na trenutak kada sam prvi put pokušao izraziti ono što osjećam – kroz kadar.
Fotografija je snimljena u Nišu, blizu glavne autobuske stanice. Dok sam sa fotoaparatom u ruci tragao za lepim predelima Niša, neočekivano sam naišao na tužnu priču mladog Kristijana koji ima 20 godina, živi sam u napuštenom skladištu i koga je životna situacija i nemar bliže rodbine naterao da strahuje da li će preživeti predstojeću zimu.
Odabrana je u najboljih dvanaest na foto – konkursu organizacije Civil Rights Defenders „Pod istim krovom“ o životu romske zajednice u Srbiji.

Peristyle, as the central square of the Palace, intended for the Emperor Diocletian celebrated as the living son of Jupiter, finds its place among many temples. The Emperor would appear under the architrave of the central part of Protyron, and his subjects would approach him, kneeling down, kissing the hem of his scarlet cloak, or they would fall in front of him, their entire body to the ground.
The red colour of the granite columns emphasises the ceremonial function. Namely, ever since the Emperor Diocletian the colour purple became the imperial colour. With the construction of a new city square with the town hall (Pjaca) in the 13th/14th century, Peristyle became a religious centre. Today it boarders from the West with Palaces of Split noble families Grisogono, Cipci and Skočibušić, as they lean on its authentic columns and arches. With their Renaissance and Gothic architecture they themselves became monuments.
Owing to its unique beauty and unusual acoustics, Peistyle became the ideal theatre scenery, perfect for opera classics and works of ancient literature, but also the stage where abundant urban life continues. Having your coffee on the steps circling Peristyle is a unique experience, one of the closest touches of a modern man with the ancient heritage, not only Roman, but also Egyptian, as the Peristyle is closely watched over by a 3500 old and perfectly preserved sphinx, the witness of Split's history in making. This is why John Paul the II in amazement said " Dear God, how many feet have stepped through here", and this is why citizens of Split think of Peristyle as the centre of Split and the entire world.
