The Pom you see in the background with a crazy expression is a new addition to our gang... We didn't want a new one, even less one with trauma, I stupidly fostered him to help someone who ended up finding he was too much of a hassle... A poor guy who spent 8 years in a puppy mill, scared of everyone and everything, not able to handle the busy streets of NYC... We had him for a few months until we decided he had chosen us (not to mention he didn't attract many with his behavior - he looks like a teddy bear but is far from being one!), even if he remains a schizo who seems to love you one minute and gets scared as hell the next... He has improved quite a bit since he's been with us, but he still has a long way to go. Funny fact, he is always glued to Gurky!
It's been a long time since I have been on Flickr. Lola and Wyatt crossed the Rainbow Bridge at very old ages. I found myself volunteering at HSSV to help me heal from their loss. I started to foster dogs with them and managed to get to FOUR fosters before I failed with Bandit! Old herding dogs are just the best.
16 years ago to this very day, I brought my very first foster dog home from the Scott County Indiana Animal Shelter. I was told that I would only need to keep him for 3 days because he then would be heading to another rescue group. I thought this would be the perfect first foster dog because I honestly didn't like little dogs and how could I get attached in just 3 days? Little did I know that little dog would melt my heart within just a few hours, and 16 years later, he would still be with me and would fill my heart completely. Happy Gotcha Day, Pokey!
(the top left photo is the first photo I ever took of Pokey, on 11/19/2007 - he was only approximately 5 months old. The bottom right photo was taken today)
Seeing that everything I do, where I live, where I work, the car I drive and basically how I live my live is all about my animals bringing a new animal into my family certain criteria has to be met .
Now as a person I am hopeless and I mean hopeless at training anything, I hate rules therefore do not impart them onto anyone or anyone else but saying that I do have high expectations ( I know I am messed up)
The rules I do have and enforce to my furry family are only rules for their own well being and my piece of mind like having one dog tired up at all times because if they are off together they tend to go on kangaroo chasing adventures and although they return it is like 4/5 hours later either injured or exhausted. Another rule Critter has to be inside before dark and not allowed outside unless I am home. They are the only rules....everything else I let them work out for themselves.
So any animal that comes into my family has to' just do' and what I mean by that is, they need to fit right in without any prompting from me and watch and learn. That is where my high expectations come in ( I also expect humans to know what I am thinking which is impossible and why I am still single hehehehehe)
Now Beaker has done and is doing this.....he has fitted right into the family and has met all my expectations.
He is a very sweet kitten who does not demand anything. He has just started coming into my room at night but before that he slept where he and his mum slept.
He is content....I feed him he goes and sleeps, I take him outside he stays close or will just sit and be.
He actually acts like a grown cat already.
So this is why Beaker is now part of us.
As a kitten he was the most content out of the three as well, he was the last to open his eyes, eat solid food and walk but my guess this little runt is going to grow into a fine, handsome well-adjusted kitty cat.
The only thing I do not like is his god awful name I have given him but for the life of me I can't change it even though I have tried....Beaker just suits him. Don't worry he has plenty of nicknames already, like..... The kid, Beavis, Beakie, B-Boy and Muppet.
Lightbox and baby photos in comments.
Sorry I couldn't resist.
Beaker boy is off to get his boy bits snipped this morning so I guess this is a trubute to his bits lol
Seriously hard to throw horse poo with one hand and take these shots with the other.
My little foster dog, the Miniature Pinscher who came to me in November 2010 with a broken leg (all healed now) is an official Foster Fail. I had a birthday in mid-August and my husband wrote me a card saying that Cricket is now my dog. Hooray! She is so sweet and snuggly and such a busy little pest, too!
Still frame, taken from a quick video I had taken yesterday AM, shortly after waking up [I am a week out from my second hip replacement @ 31 & I woke with 6 cats on me - unable to move and in pain.. but in true Cat Owner fashion, I was more concerned with waking them from their peaceful slumber… so I got an idea..] This is the result of that idea: 2/3rd’s of my harem flocking to the television set once I placed “Cat TV” [as you can see: their favorite channel] onto the bedroom television which woke them immediately & I was able to move, albeit slowly and painfully 😅

This little guy, named "Papi" when he was shared around the Internet as the victim of a sad case of an owner surrender to Pima Animal Care with a request to euthanize for "supposed aggression". We fostered him three days after his intake to get him off the e-list and after two weeks of getting him healthy from the poor treatment that previous owner gave him, and showing him nothing but love, he's now the newest member of our family as Sully, the "monster" who's just a big softie. Full adoption! Sully is so gentle and kind... No aggressive behavior with our two other dogs or the three kids under 6 that he spent last week around. It was clear that he was abused before, but he has a long and happy life ahead of him with us now! #rescuedog #fosterfail #papidog - posted on Instagram at: bit.ly/1LYYxW1
