Recently Daimler started sales of the third generation of the Smart Fortwo. This time there is also a four door version available called Forfour. This version is developed together with Renault who sells its model as Twingo. Both models have the engine in the rear and are rear-wheel driven.

One of a few Brabus tuned Smart ForTwo's that were part of Team MastersOfSpeed during the Gumball 3000. Both were registered to the home of Brabus, the city of Bottrop, located only 5km north of Essen in the middle of North Rhine-Westphalia.

EQ is the name of the Daimler's sub-brand for electric vehicles. It's also used for this concept for a future generation of the Smart Fortwo. It seems unlikely that these funny doors will reach the production stadium however....

In some German cities Burger King recently started home delivery. In Wuppertal some Smart Fortwo cars are used for this service.
Location: Berlin - 582km from home.
This spot is way more interesting that you'd expect - or I would have expected when taking this spot. I try spotting nice Luxembourg vanity plate, and this plate alone is a cooler one, so I might as well spot it. Little did I know that I have already spotted this plate before in Berlin...on a Porsche Cayenne. This is quite an intriguing "update" to his former car.

This Smart ForTwo from Germany was driving along the M20 motorway. The car was registered to the city of Hamburg, an important and major city in northern Germany. I find it quite interesting that someone would take a small car like this across multiple countries to the UK, though it's not the first instance I've seen foreign Smart cars in the UK.

Front suspension - MacPherson, rear - semi-independent type deDion. In addition to the suspension, of course, the front steering (with castor), the rear drive on the traditional 3-cylinder engine, located behind the rear axle. The model opens the side doors and the rear door.
In the cabin, a soft steering wheel, an internal rearview mirror, a watch in the depth of the torpedo. The passenger seat folds to form an armrest.
This generation of the Smart Fortwo was sold from 2007 until 2014. This Electric Drive model is in use by the Stadtwerke Düsseldorf, the public utilities company of the city.
The Fortwo is noted for its 2.5-metre (8.2 ft) – 2.69-metre (8.8 ft) overall length, high H-point seating, offset passenger and driver seats (in the first and second generation, the passenger seat is 15cm further rearward than the driver's), automated manual transmission (1st and 2nd generation), De Dion tube rear suspension, low CO2 emissions (119 grams per kilometre, North America, 1.0 Liter), two-part rear hatch, interchangeable plastic body panels and prominent steel hemispherical safety-cell, which is marketed as the Tridion cell and can be ordered in a contrasting color to the vehicle's body panels.The first-generation, build series W450, debuted in 1998 and received a facelift in 2002.

The engines are turbocharged with three cylinders. Originally the basic petrol engine was 599 cc, and came in three versions—45 hp (33 kW), 51 hp (38 kW) and 61 hp (45 kW). The engine displacement was increased to 698 cc with the facelift in 2002, in 37 kW (50 hp) and 45 kW (61 hp) variants. The turbo-diesel engine had 799 cc displacement giving 30 kW (41 hp).

The Fortwo is available as a coupe or cabriolet, originally called the "city-coupe" & "City Cabrio", now the "Fortwo" & "Fortwo Cabrio", introduced in 2000 and restyled in 2002. Trim levels include the Pure, Pulse, and Passion. Pure models are fitted with the standard audio system but nothing else; Pulse models are fitted with alloy wheels, panoramic glass roof, and paddle-shifters on the steering wheel (2004+); and finally, the Passion models are fitted with air-conditioning and ability to select between fully automatic and sequential gearbox.

This Smart ForTwo was parked on Theodor-Körner-Straße. The car was registered to the district of Ilm-Kreis, more specifically the town of Arnstadt, located in central Germany. Interestingly though, this car is a rental from Arndt Automotive, specialising in renting out luxury cars, and based in Neuss, located across the Rhine from Düsseldorf. The company is said to have 'offices' based in Arnstadt, hence why they use the 'ARN DT' combination on their rental car's plates, which can be seen on anything from AMG's, Porsches and Bentleys.

An NYPD Smart ForTwo patrolling the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan, New York. The vehicle was there for heightened security during the 2017 Pride Parade.
...in size, that is! The car and the two trash receptacles occupy a similar amount of curb space, which makes the Smart Fortwo convenient to park.
The headlight shape is for the Smart Fortwo model years 2002-2006. Other than that, I don't know much about these other than info available on the Internet.

Smart Mk2 fortwo coupé in plastic. The length is approx 35mm so that makes it about 1:76 scale I think. Base marked 'MPG TT089', and it claims to be 'licensed by smart gmbh'.

This generation of the Smart Fortwo was sold from 2007 until 2014. This one is in use by a local event magazine in Duisburg. .

Designated the C453 the 3rd 2 seater and W453 for the 5 door 4 seater, marketed as the Fortwo and Forfour, respectively.both Hatchbacks and is a joint developement with Renault with 70 per cent of parts shared with the third generation Renault Twingo.
The third generation Fortwo is powered by either of two 3-cylinder engines; a 1.0-litre engine producing 71 bhp, and 67 lb ft of torque and a turbocharged 0.9-litre (898 cc) 89 bhp engine with 100 lb ft of torque. A lower-powered 59 bhp engine will follow later. All versions come with either a manual five-speed gearbox or ‘twinamic’ automatic dual clutch transmission instead of the previous 'Softouch' system
The Fortwo continues to be assembled at Smartville, Hambach, France and the Forfour is manufactured alongside the Renault Twingo 3 in Novo Mesto, Slovenia.
In 2015, Smart announced a cabriolet version of the Smart Fortwo at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. The smart fortwo cabrio launched globally in 2016.
smart announced in March 2018 that electric versions of the smart fortwo would be rebranded as the smart EQ fortwo. This change was to further align with the upcoming Mercedes-EQ brand in which all Mercedes-Benz produced electric vehicles would receive EQ branding.

Two Smart Car Fortwo coupes photographed through the window of the Montreal Silver Star Mercedes-Benz dealership on Decarie Boulevard near Ferrier.
They were building an annex onto the Mercedes dealership specifically for selling Smart Cars, but it wasn't yet complete at the time I took the photo, so the Smart Cars were on display in the Mercedes showroom.
