外型特徵：
體長約18~35mm，雌雄外型異色，雄蟲體色為綠色，具有金屬光澤，雌蟲為褐色，複眼橢圓形，黑褐色，兩眼間有錐狀突起。上翅細長褐色或黑褐色，末端具白斑，後腳較長，腿節粗大；雄蟲體型較小，腹部末端膨大，雌蟲褐色，末端尖，體型較大。
生態習性：
本種普遍分布於低、中海拔山區，成蟲於4至10月出現。若蟲全年可見，常出現於草叢。本種外型奇特，模樣十分可愛，是台灣特有種。
El Camachuelo de Taiwán es una ave endémica de las montañas de la Isla de Formosa. Habita en las zonas altas de la isla y se alimenta en el suelo y en matorrales. Es el único camachuelo que se reproduce en la isla. La belleza y el colorido del macho lo hacen inconfundible entre la avifauna taiwanesa.

展翅39 - 50 mm，雄蝶翅膀表面黑褐色或褐綠色，翅腹面褐綠色具金屬光澤，翅脈黑色發達，下翅肛角處有醒目的橙斑及紅色緣毛，雌雄外觀近似，雌蝶後翅基半部具青綠色鱗毛。本種分布於低、中海拔山區，南部較少見，幼蟲頭部橙黃色具黑色斑點，體表白色，各體節有黑色橫帶，以山豬肉植物寄主，會捲葉築巢，成蟲習性隱密，常棲息於樹葉背面休息，陽光下偶而可在大花咸豐草的花朵上看到，體型肥胖，吸食花蜜時常會將花朵壓低或倒掛，姿態十分可愛 。

金露花，又名蕾絲金露花是馬鞭草科金露花屬的植物。原生於熱帶美洲以及加勒比地區。常綠性灌木， 春至秋季開花，總狀花序腋出頂生，花冠藍紫或白色；核果球形，成熟後橙黃色，聚生或串，內含種子4到8粒 ，但果實和葉子有小毒。
