It is a bird species endemic to Taiwan. This species is found in the high mountain forests of Taiwan, typically above 2,000 meters (6,500 feet) in elevation. It prefers dense thickets, bamboo groves, and areas with shrubs and undergrowth. The Taiwan Rosefinch is considered a vulnerable species due to habitat loss and degradation caused by deforestation, agricultural activities, and human development. The population is believed to be declining, and conservation efforts are important to protect this endemic bird.
