New camera, medium format 6x7 on a budget. Camera was $50 and the 135mm lens was $100. I also have a 90mm f3.5 lens that came with it and a 60mm wide angle that was also $100. So a 3 lens 6x7 kit for $250.
I've known about Koni-Omegas for a long time, but they always put me off with their funny looks. However recently someone was selling one locally and I went to check it out. I didn't buy it because it was in very poor condition. However handling the camera sold me on it, despite it's look. Plus the prices these go for these days you just can't go wrong. There is a grip that mounts on the left hand side, but I took it off as I found it made the camera too bulky.
Apparently this lens is one of the better medium format lenses, I'll post some pictures once I get a chance to shoot with it.

So I decided to take the plunge into large format, or at least stick my toe into the water. Starting out economically I purchased this 4x5 Tower Press Camera which is basically a Busch Pressman D camera branded for sale by Sears, back in the day. This one has a 127mm f/4.7 Kodak Ektar lens; a bit more wide angle than I'd wished, but it is a press camera, although that is not how I plan to use it. Anyway, a longer lens can always be gotten.
I've taken it out and shot a few pictures, just to try it out. I developed the film today and the negatives are currently drying. I find going from 35mm to medium format not too awfully different in terms of using the equipment. Much greater difference going from medium to large format. Film is no longer on rolls, lining up and focusing is almost entirely a ground glass affair, a heavier tripod for all shots is a given, and developing the film is a bigger deal (not to mention the cost of the film). Ah, but those nice large negatives!
