John Muir: All the wild world is beautiful, and it matters but little where we go, to highlands or lowlands, woods or plains, on the sea or land or down among the crystals of waves or high in a balloon in the sky; through all the climates, hot or cold, storms and calms, everywhere and always we are in God's eternal beauty and love. So universally true is this, the spot where we chance to be always seems the best.

It was a perfect day to visit Joshua Tree National Park. Not too hot, not too cold. But up at Keys View, which is a bit higher elevation, it was VERY windy and cold. The beautiful view was worth it, and for most of the time I was there alone...kinda rare as this is a popular place.
I was sure this picture wouldn't turn out, as the wind was making the bush in the foreground sway like crazy, so I was nicely surprised to see my carefully timed shot paid off, and just in time before the sun fell behind the mountains in the distance.

Have purchased my first ever FILM camera. A medium format Mamiya RB67. These photos are my first efforts. Brand new system - so may the results be lacking somewhat!! :) Nothing digital to aid me, and I really struggled.
The reason for the new kit? I wanted something to force me to slow down. Also, it only has PRIME lenses, so that would also instill a new way of looking at a scene. It will take time for this to trickle into the way I shoot, but ultimately, I think I will benefit in the long term.
All shot on Velvia 50 or 100 (a mix), using either the 50mm C, 90mm C or 180mm C lenses.
