The Cathedral of Vasily the Blessed (Russian: Собор Василия Блаженного), commonly known as Saint Basil's Cathedral, is a church in Red Square in Moscow, Russia. The building, now a museum, is officially known as the Cathedral of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos on the Moat (Russian: Собор Покрова пресвятой Богородицы, что на Рву) or Pokrovsky Cathedral (Russian: Покровский собор). It was built from 1555–61 on orders from Ivan the Terrible and commemorates the capture of Kazan and Astrakhan. A world famous landmark, it was the city's tallest building until the completion of the Ivan the Great Bell Tower in 1600.

The original building, known as Trinity Church and later Trinity Cathedral, contained eight side churches arranged around the ninth, central church of Intercession; the tenth church was erected in 1588 over the grave of venerated local saint Vasily (Basil). In the 16th and 17th centuries, the church, perceived as the earthly symbol of the Heavenly City, as happens to all churches in Byzantine Christianity, was popularly known as the "Jerusalem" and served as an allegory of the Jerusalem Temple in the annual Palm Sunday parade attended by the Patriarch of Moscow and the tsar.

The building is shaped as a flame of a bonfire rising into the sky, a design that has no analogues in Russian architecture. Dmitry Shvidkovsky, in his book Russian Architecture and the West, states that "it is like no other Russian building. Nothing similar can be found in the entire millennium of Byzantine tradition from the fifth to fifteenth century ... a strangeness that astonishes by its unexpectedness, complexity and dazzling interleaving of the manifold details of its design." The cathedral foreshadowed the climax of Russian national architecture in the 17th century.

As part of the program of state atheism, the church was confiscated from the Russian Orthodox community as part of the Soviet Union's anti-theist campaigns and has operated as a division of the State Historical Museum since 1928. It was completely and forcefully secularized in 1929 and remains a federal property of the Russian Federation. The church has been part of the Moscow Kremlin and Red Square UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1990. It is occasionally mislabeled as the Kremlin owing to its location on Red Square in immediate proximity of the Kremlin.

y Twmpath (welsh)

The Mound in modern English,

It was called, in the old tongue,”y Twmpath”

Welsh for The mound

The area known as ”y Twmpath” was not really a mound, actually more of a small bald mountain that overlooked a wide valley.

”y Twmpath” had always been as void of any type of vegetation as that valley below was lush and green with.

The ancient ones, Druid Wisemen, used it for their most important ceremonies but only during the daylight for ”y Twmpath” became " strong in voice" as twilight came with the rising moon. So at nightfall, those ceremonial rituals were performed at ”y Twmpath’s” feet.

Through those early times, the area saw many different invaders who took over the valley. Driving away the Druid elders, they ignored their warnings and attempted to conquer the hill.

Various outposts were built by these newcomers to have an overlook over the valley.

And one by one those outposts were destroyed in a chillingly similar manner.

Soon after one of these outposts was finished and occupied ….Always around the time Calan Gaeaf or Sauin (The roots of which Halloween is derived)…

Dark clouds would amass and swirl around the mountain, and in the night, unleash terrifying lightning storms that seemed to roll down from ”y Twmpath’s” and wrack carnage to the valley below.

With the light of day, as the valley occupants emerged to survey the damage, they would discover that whatever structure had been built upon” y Twmpath” was gone, along with any man who had been garrisoned there.

Then, In an attempt to consecrate and make holy the ”y Twmpath” a group of missionary priests built a brick chapel on a small ridge located halfway up the mountain. It lasted for two years before the discovery was made one morning by superstitious villagers that the chapel had been deserted. Further exploration of ”y Twmpath”, in full daylight, discovered the bodies of the missionary priests laid out in a circle at the top of the hill. A crucifix from the chapel plunged upside down in the Centre.

No one dared to build another structure upon it after that…

So these were the legends that made their way to more modern days when sayings like “beyond the pale” became meaningless with electricity and the Telegraph.

And though the legends were told, and scoffed at, the small village in the valley below grew into a large city, that surrounded ”y Twmpath” seemingly giving a wide berth around the small mountain.

Then in 1888 one of the city’s richest men, A heralded Lord, Eric Macmillan, who was a widower with two children, took a much younger lass as his new bride. A wealthy American lady with grand ideas and plans.

She would not settle for a mansion in the city. Her abode had to be above all the others.

Literally….

Without heeding the warnings, she had her lovestruck husband build a stone house upon ”y Twmpath” as to overlook the valley. As a Queen would overlook her peasants.

The great house was built within 3 years without issue. And many believed that the old tales about ”y Twmpath” were merely children’s Nursury tales to keep young ones from exploring the dark shadowy mountain.

It was early spring when the mansion was completed. A great stone structure with looming towers and arched windows and doorways. Upon ”y Twmpath’s” bald top it stood out with a quite ominous presence.

The small family soon were moved in. The wealthy Lord, his wife, and the two children. A boy of 12 and a girl of 10. Along with 2 servants.

The house actually needed more than 2 servants to keep it, but no locals would dare venture there, and the 2 that did take the job were the only ones from out of town that answered the advertisement.

Not much was seen of the family after they moved in. Just the pair of servants when they came to town to pick up supplies that no one else would deliver.

Spring turned to summer, summer turned to autumn and late autumn turned to conversations among the locals, starting in the pubs, that no one could remember the last time the servants from the manor on ”y Twmpath” had been seen.

They would stare up at the house as darkness fell, and noticed that no lights were lit.

“Should someone go up and check?” We’re the questions asked. But no one dared to go there at night. So it was decided the local constables would be told to go up in the light of day to see what was going on.

But later that very evening dark clouds the likes of which had never been seen in the local’s memory began forming and lightning began to streak and crash all around as a driving rain pelted down.

The villagers took cover until the dawn when the storm finally subsided. As the city's occupants emerged and accessed the damage, they looked up at ”y Twmpath”. The stone manor still stood, despite the legends. But nothing, absolutely nothing, appeared to be alive in or around it.

It was not until two days later the pair of local constables were able to leave and check up on the stone mansions' occupants.

They left after lunch, with a herd of locals leaving the pubs to follow in their wake

The gawkers were made to stay out at the foot of ”y Twmpath”. As the constables went up on foot along the winding road and path of stone stairs that stretched almost a full Kilometer up to the stone manor.

Two hours later the constables came back down, visibly shaken. They went to the nearest pub and ordered whisky. The waiting gawkers had followed and filled the pub, surrounding the pair of officials while demanding to know what was all found?

“Nothing….” They both answered as they then downed their drinks and looked around the room before continuing…

“No sign of anything living, or having lived there for some weeks. Though the whole time we were there, both of us felt were being watched and heard sounds behind us as if being followed.”

The other constable chimed in…

“But when we turned around, nothing was there, was it. And when we called out, only our echoes in the hallways answered us back. Job doesn’t pay enough for us to stay there. Let the Yard Detectives figure this one out.”

Detectives did come and scoured the house and property, including the remains of the old stone church.

Only 3 clues were found. None of them really afforded an explanation to what had taken place.

Clue 1: A child’s doll found in the church ruins. Dry as a bone-like it had very recently been set there.

Clue 2: in the nursery, on a drawing board a child’s picture lay upon it. Drawn in crayon the picture was remarkably a well-done likeness depicting the front of the manor house. Above the manor were dark clouds and lightening down with finger paint, from a small hand. The paint was still damp!?

Clue 3: Suitcases of clothing belonging to the occupants were piled in the foyer. The Constables both swore they had not seen anything of the sort when they were there.

As the months passed nothing more was learned of the fate of the Macmillan family and their two servants.

To keep curious from coming onto the property, a caretaker/watchman was hired by the propertys' solicitor.

Though the caretaker refused to stay anywhere near the house at night. He built a small cottage next to the ruined church, using it’s’ remaining stones.

And so it remained, empty and put out of mind.

For nearly 35 years no one dared to go to the Macmillan Manor on desolate y Twmpath after dark.

Then during October 1931…as the country was still embroiled in the “great slump”, one person, a young man, finally did.

This ends the first part of this story.

The second part is his to tell

Alright, so I don't normally post two things so close together. But, I've had this picture taken for about a month now. In fact, this MOC isn't even together any more.

Anyway, this is a rough replication of a scene from CW S5 EP22. I've always loved this fight, mainly cause I'm a sucker for any Darth Vader foreshadowing that Anakin gets in the CW. Gosh, this show is so good.

Anyway, I say 'rough' mostly because of the younglings. I took some inspiration, but didn't even try to replicate them at all.

I thought I would post this now, since tomorrow is the first time we'll see (CW) Ahsoka since this episode. Although Ahsoka isn't even in this MOC, so it's a stretch to call it a commemorative build. Either way, I hope you enjoy.

Oh, and if you were tagged and don't want to be in future posts, just lemme know. I just tag those who I think will appreciate the build.

Revisiting some photos when I got my first legitimate DSLR.

I felt like I needed to shift-gears (pun unintended) on what I was editing and decided to revisit some photos when I made my first decent attempt at photography when I upgraded from a Canon Rebel T3i to the Canon 6D and picked-up a pretty fast 85mm lens.

This was from a historic car show at the Winterthur Estate in Delaware, from May 2015.

- These were the swan song years of solid axle Corvettes. Chevy freshened the car for 1961 by grafting the now famous four taillight design to the rear of the car, foreshadowing the Sting Ray race car based ’63 model. The car continued it’s dechroming by removing the famous tooth grill and replacing it with a more conservative (and cleaner) mesh style. This was also the last time a contrasting color could be specified for the “coves.” Cars produced for 1962 are considered the cleanest of all post-1958 cars and current prices reflect that distinction. This was the first year for the legendary 327 cubic inch V8 and thin-stripe white wall tires. Production would reach an all-time high for C1 Corvettes at 14,531 units.

A styling refresh, in 1961 featured a 4-taillight rear end and a toothless grille. With seven small block motors available, you could get as much as 315 hp with the fuel-injected 283 mill. Production reached 10,939 units.

The last of an era, and went out with a bang in 1962 with the introduction of the 327 ci motor and arguably the cleanest body trim of all C1 Corvettes. The top of the line, fuel-injected 327 ci motor pumped out 360 hp.

The last supper

“Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me.”

The Last Supper (Italian: Il Cenacolo or L'Ultima Cena is a late 15th-century mural painting by Leonardo da Vinci. The Last Supper covers an end wall of the dining hall at the monastery of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan, Italy.

The Last Supper specifically portrays the reaction given by each apostle when Jesus said one of them would betray him. All twelve apostles have different reactions to the news, with various degrees of anger and shock.

From left to right:

- Bartholomew, James, son of Alphaeus, and Andrew form a group of three; all are surprised.

- Judas Iscariot, Peter, and John form another group of three. Peter looks angry away from Christ, perhaps foreshadowing his violent reaction in Gethsemane during Jesus' arrest. The youngest apostle, John, appears to swoon.

- Jesus

- Apostle Thomas, James the Greater, and Philip are the next group of three. Thomas is clearly upset; the raised index finger foreshadows his Incredulity of the Resurrection. James the Greater looks stunned, with his arms in the air. Meanwhile, Philip appears to be requesting some explanation.

- Matthew, Jude Thaddeus, and Simon the Zealot are the final group of three. Both Jude Thaddeus and Matthew are turned toward Simon, perhaps to find out if he has any answer to their initial questions. (Not quite, both Matthew and Simon struggled to sit still during the photoshoot.)

Today's story and sketch "by me", is one of the scariest mysteries I have been asked to solve by the Seekers, a species of Beaked Beings from the Furrbushie Constellation, who pride themselves as the Seekers of trust, and justice for all sentiment beings in this Galaxy and when they are not busy looking for a sponsor to treat them to a moon pie lunch, they cruise the many dimensions searching out the mysteries of the Cosmos. This morning a group of Seekers you see in the "Sketchofax" where gravely troubled by the Doll hanging in Dimension Five's Tiki Palm Park. I of course instantly recognized it as being the Randy Doll given to Randy by the Queen of England, after he rescued her from a group of "SPFTPM", Short Pirates From The Planet Moriarty , they swam onboard her boat the Britannia while cruising the channel, demanding she turn over the family jewels. The Queen luckily has had a direct pager to reach Randy from the day she Knighted him as the "Sir Knight Randy" The Most Interesting Living Tissue Crash Test Dummy In The Galaxy. Randy saved the Queen, dispatched the pirates to the Tower Of London Prison, the following week she had the Royal Doll Makers craft the finest doll ever created, that until last week was in a place of honor, in a shatter proof glass enclosure in the Man Cave. The crime of taking the Randy Doll was captured on the Man Cave closed circuit surveillance cameras. It was only a short flash of a "SPFTPM" who materialized, grabbed the case then dematerialized with a whiff of smoke. We are not sure of the symbolism behind hanging the Randy Doll from a Tiki Palm, but the thing that is scary is that the "SPFTPM" escaped the Tower of London, and have acquired the technology to dematerialize. This foreshadows a new and terrifying threat not only to the "MCPPOTG" Man Cave Posse Protectors Of The Galaxy, but to the entire Cosmos. Until next time taa ta the Rod Blog. To our readers interested in owning their very own Rescue Randy Doll, a not to cheap but very nice replica's of the original will be for sale in the Man Cave Posse Gift Shop soon.

The Cadillac XLR is a front-engine, rear-drive, two passenger roadster manufactured and marketed by Cadillac from 2003 to 2009 across a single generation — and noted for its power retractable hardtop, Bulgari designed interior instruments, head-up display, adaptive suspension marketed as Magnetic Ride Control, rear-mounted transmission and near 50/50 front-to-rear weight distribution. As Cadillac's flagship model, the XLR was introduced at the 2003 North American International Auto Show and began production with model year 2004 — foreshadowed by the 1999 Evoq concept.

Sharing the GM Y platform and manufactured alongside the Chevrolet Corvette in Bowling Green, Kentucky, the two cars also share hydroformed perimeter frame and composite bodywork construction — though each have unique exterior and interior styling, suspension settings and engine. The XLR was the first production Cadillac with radar-based adaptive cruise control (ACC) and the first to offer both heated and cooled seats.

The XLR was nominated for the North American Car of the Year award for 2004.

The Triumph TR4 is a sports car produced by the Triumph Motor Company from 1961 to 1965. Successor to the TR3A, the TR4's chassis and drivetrain are closely related to those of its predecessor, but with an updated body designed by Michelotti. In 1965 the TR4 was superseded by the TR4A.

The TR4A was an evolution of the TR4, updated with a new chassis. It was hoped the new, but more complex independent rear suspension would address the buying public's desire for more comfortable riding sports cars. The chassis revisions resulted in a car roughly 22 mm (0.87 in) wider than the TR4, although length and height were unaffected. The wheelbase is 3 mm (0.12 in) shorter. The front track is unchanged, while the rear track grew by 13 mm (0.51 in) All of which added weight and the TR4A is around 110lbs heavier than the TR3. a/c electrics and diaphragm clutches were optional, as were wire wheels (£36), overdrive (£51), heater (£13) and set belts (£4 each)

In response to dealer requests, about 25 percent of TR4As were produced with a solid rear axle option (also called a live axle), similar to the earlier TR4. The TR4A was the first vehicle to offer an option for axle type. The new suspension eventually proved itself with the buying public and in racing, with three TR4A IRS models posting a team win and finishing 1st, 2nd and 3rd in class at the Sebring 12-hour race of 1966.

Like the TR4, the TR4A was also available with the "Surrey Top" hard top system; a weather protection system with rigid rear section including the rear window and removable fabric section over the driver's and passenger's heads. This aesthetically foreshadowed the silhouette of Targa top cars..

FORESHADOWING & AFFILIATE - mit schattentochter <3

A series on semi-candid portraits taken at Pirate Festival in las Vegas this Spring. I'm fascinated by Steampunk. I loved reading Jules Verne as a pre teenager, and am also a huge fan of Bill Gibson's work, cyberpunk and steampunk. I love the ingenuity of finding different ways to solve modern technical challenges, whether it is steampunk, or Harry Harrison's West of Eden books that in many ways foreshadowed modern genetic engineering

.

This one sings to me a little, featuring the beautiful faint colour and fractal pattern in the center that I like to all “inner future”. View large!

I’ve photographed patterns inside a small hexagonal snowflake like this many times before, seemingly foreshadowing the future shape of the snowflake once branches grow from the corners. The darker area is caused by solid ice, and the lighter area has a bubble trapped inside it, thus giving more layers of ice to reflect light back to the camera. Some of these bubbles were just barely within the thickness requirements for colour generation due to the thin film interference, helping add a little depth as well.

The branches of this snowflake formed in an interesting way. The bubble that provides the brighter center eventually grew so large that it cut the snowflake in half, completely separating it into two new parallel plates. More water vapour must have been available on the backside (or this side was much thinner to evoke the “knife-edge instability”) and the branches all formed on one of these parallel plates. The other one (top) continued to grow out slowly, overlapping the “trunks” of the branches. You can easily see the shadow cast from the top plate on any of the bottom branches.

I want to take a moment here to discuss how I edit these snowflakes. This one was over 50 separate focus “slices” combined, all photographed handheld while the snowflake rests on a black mitten. The woolen fabric of the mitten allows me to easily position the snowflake on an angle and it’s trivial to clean-up the background to make it soft. Usually I take the focus slice that is furthest away from the background, as this layer has the most out-of-focus surroundings. It’s easy to paint in this background as part of the editing process, careful not to get too close to the branches on the other end of the stack. Cloning and the occasional spot requiring a background replacement are all that’s required to push forward. Here’s a visual: skycrystals.ca/bts/DKP_1963-background-cleanup.jpg

That’s just the beginning of the editing process… as I go through each layer to paint in “fixes” to automatic focus blending errors introduced by Photoshop. The typical time spent editing a snowflake is roughly four hours, the bulk of that spent on the layer-by-layer perfection adjustments. A lot of effort goes into each of these snowflake images! :) If you’re curious to read about the entire photographic process, check out the Sky Crystals links below to the book.

NS256 got held up back at Martin longer than expected. We would have had some nicer lighting if it didn't have to wait, but after a manifest and then a depleted nuclear fuels train came through. That was an interesting surprise. It also explained why they'd let roadrailers sit in the siding over an hour! Though, these days...

We all know the roadrailer has limited time left to run. It's been seemingly teetering on the edge for years, but now, its time really does seem to be running low. When the roadrailer does die - and it will, even if its weeks or months or still somehow clings for longer - it will be a sad day. It's really special. Unlike the motive power. Foreign power on roadrailers is a weird one... it should be neat, and sometimes it is (remember the Fakebonnets twice in a week?), but a plain BNSF H3 GEVO is about as far from neat as you can get. Not like a horsehead C6M is any cooler, but NS on TC is a clean look. Oh, well. The cemetery is still cool, though.

Rossbach brilliantly fused historical precedent and contemporary materials in his hand-loomed wall hangings and, later, in his trail-blazing baskets. Among the many low-grade contemporary materials he favoured were cheap printed fabric, raffia and PVC. In this painting-adjacent abstraction, he inserted strips of partially faded cotton into plastic sleeves, then rewove them into a diptych. Juxta posing a striped pattern at left with a checkerboard at right, his compositions foreshadows the preoccupations of the 11970s abstract artists, such as Alan Shields and Francois Rouan, with the woven canvas support – the literal foundation of modernist painting.

In a desperate attempt to be reunited with Romeo, Juliet follows the Friar's plot and fakes her own death. The message fails to reach Romeo, and believing Juliet dead, he takes his life in her tomb. Juliet wakes to find Romeo's corpse beside her and kills herself. The grieving family agree to end their feud.

As the Nurse chases after Romeo, (Act 1, Scene 5) Juliet says, "If he be married. My grave is like to be my wedding bed" . She means that if Romeo is married, she will die unmarried, because she will never marry another, but in the end her grave does become her wedding bed.

Her statement is also an acknowledgement of her youth and foreshadowing of her early death.

"A rose by any other name would smell as sweet" (Act 2, Scene 2) is a popular reference to William Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet, in which Juliet seems to argue that it does not matter that Romeo is from her family's rival house of Montague, that is, that he is named "Montague".

Yesterday was the wide angle, today is the telephoto. Tomorrow will involve a bee. That's what we in the business call foreshadowing.

The first of three addendum shots for the Super Scum series. Depicted are perhaps the two most recognizable costume variations of Brainiac, one of Superman’s most dangerous enemies and a veritable comic book icon in his own right. It’s funny how I chose to include parka Brainiac in the main Super Scum series over these guys; Magneto Eradicator too. Foreshadowing for the next addendum...

I made this early afternoon portrait pre-first real acupuncture treatment session.

Most days, I pick up the camera and wander until a scene or story pulls me in. Today it was the lines of light in my bedroom reflecting on the glass, mirror and me. When shooting, I didn’t make the connection with the upcoming appointment. But the connection was presented- it was the meridian lines of energy traveling through my body. I love foreshadowing with camera and eye.

About an hour later, I fell into a deep 20 minute meditation whilst at least 12 needles where gently inserted under my skin in strategic locations. I felt electric. More please.

Happy 2012 everyone!

My first set of 2012 predictions are: Chickens, Parrots, and creepy Irish dictators with hooks will take over the world.

Call it a foreshadowing of things to come ;)

Figured I should post a pic of what the original titans looked like in the DCSG, while I can't use Dick and Roy in my series since Roy was in Heir to the Demon, and I never got a response on Dick but I had mentioned them both In my app as original members, so i felt that I needed to include them, so here we go from left to right.

Aqualad-So here's probably the most crappy fig of the bunch, the abs I did on him weren't the best, but since he won't appear for a while I'll probably redo him.

Kid Flash-Alright so I know what you're thinking, what's with this very different costume, It was inspired by the suit in the Red Racer series, done by Levi Nyuna, though I gave him a yellow head, since I felt he needed a bit more yellow, I hope you guys like him.

Robin-So this is the Dick Grayson version of Robin, he's the normal modernized Grayson design, I had seen it in Levi's Nightwing series, but without the red hips, but in Supremedalekdunn's batman series you can see Jason had the red hip piece design, so I went with that, he was the leader of the team.

Speedy-Green Arrow's sidekick, Roy is based off his JLU appearance, and I'm happy with him, I probably would have foreshadowed him loosing his arm once or twice during flashback scenes.

Wonder Girl-So this would essentially be Donna's first costume, based of the classic design, this is a younger, newer Donna, who hasn't been a hero for long, and is being taught a lot by the team, specifically Roy and Dick.

Salted paper from calotype, toned with Gold Thiourea. This is the actual print. As foreshadowed the highlights over the central pillar have printed almost white. Too dense the negative. Being without gallic acid I've retried for the first time the Pélegry development with Pyrogallic acid, Silver and Acetic acid, which I knew be faster. But how much faster! In spite of an hour of development, the image has flashed in a fistful of seconds and completed (exceeding the right point) over less than a couple of minutes. Who knows with the other development? Less exposure and less development before, or another print with less contrast (less salt and less silver as Wlodek wisely suggests). For now, this is

Whenever I see something like the 9-11 sticker somewhere I am reminded of a song. In 1981 Laurie Anderson wrote the song "O Superman". The lyrics eerily foreshadowed what happened that day. They are, in part:

Hello? Is anybody home?

Well, you don't know me,

but I know you.

And I've got a message to give to you.

Here come the planes.

So you better get ready.

Ready to go.

You can come as you are,

but pay as you go.

Pay as you go.

And I said: OK. Who is this really?

And the voice said:

This is the hand, the hand that takes.

This is the hand, the hand that takes.

This is the hand, the hand that takes.

Here come the planes.

They're American planes.

Made in America.

Smoking or non-smoking?

And the voice said:

Neither snow nor rain

nor gloom of night

shall stay these couriers

from the swift completion

of their appointed rounds.

'Cause when love is gone,

there's always justice.

And when justive is gone,

there's always force.

And when force is gone,

there's always Mom.

Hi Mom!

Laurie Anderson - O Superman

Please view this large, I think it's really cool!

In my mind I conjure up images from post holocaust documentary films of the death camps taken by the allied forces. Bodies piled up one on top of the other, as the bulldozers would shovel them into the massive graves. Trees symbolize life. Cut down gives me an ominous feeling that foreshadows an end of humanity.

These photographs were taken in Canada where the lumber industry is well regulated to maintain the forests. As the grown trees are cut down there are young ones planted to keep replenishing the tree population. Nevertheless the feeling of sadness and doom is ever present.

A bit of early morning mist the other day is foreshadowing that its nearly time for the mornings to cool of and more misty mornings to come. Yay...love Autumn.

On Espinho Beach, on Portugal’s northern coast, a red farm tractor is getting ready to take part in one of the region’s oldest fishing traditions: xávega fishing. This technique, whose origins date back several centuries, involves casting a purse seine from a boat that sets out directly from the beach, which is then hauled back to shore with the aid of mechanical power—now provided by farm machinery. Until the mid-20th century, the effort to haul the nets and boats was carried out by teams of oxen or by the collective human strength of the community; tractors gradually began to replace this labor starting in the 1960s. The vehicle depicted here, similar in design to models such as the Same Explorer, is coupled to a low-bed trailer, on which green ropes are piled up—these will be used to pull the net. In the background, the choppy sea foreshadows the fishermen’s journey, while two men prepare the equipment, highlighting the persistence of traditional craftsmanship in the face of technical modernization.

My daughter and I did our best removing snow from our house but we could only reach the snow on the first floor roofs. Now I have giant icicles foreshadowing water damage to come.

Originally thought secure. No one expected the insurgents to blow up the Mosul Dam, north of Baghdad, opening up the fury of the tigris river. Their actions have changed everything.

In the distance a massive, earth shaking explosion goes off, sending huge soundwaves that rip through the peaceful valley air, sending wildlife into a frightful dismay. Foreshadowing what's to come.

Chinese solider 1 - Holy shit, what on earth was that?!

Team lead - I'm not sure, we better establish contact with base

Chinese soldier 2 - Roger, on it

Chinese soldier 1 - The wildlife sure are acting strange..maybe that wasn't any ordinary blast

Team lead - Maybe some form of air-strike

Chinese soldier 2 - Siginals there, but no ones responding, sir

Team lead - Thats not like them, this patrols over, we need to see whats going on

Chinese solider 1 - Oh my God...sir, we need to find high ground now!

Team lead - Team, move your asses or else we'll be caught in that wall of water!!

Good Lord this build took a minute to piece together, but I'm really happy with the results, a bit out of the normal urban setting which I'm going to try and do more of, nature build are just as fun as urban, its just getting it all sized up is the issue. Hugly inspired off of one of Roman's old builds back when the Lego military game was a thing, lmao

The hype for BFVA is so real, time needs to move faster, until then I hope to crack out another scene, then get on planning out my MOC, the base idea, an ubran setting with my faction on it doing different tactical shit, plus some other stuff I'm sure Danny and Codey will wanna add, y'all feel free to stop by and say hi!

A row of 12th-14th century half-timbered houses in Simorre, a village of the historical Gascony region of France (Gers département)

Simorre is a former sauveté, a medieval foreshadowing of present-day "sanctuary cities", where fugitives were granted asylum and protected by the church. With merely ~600 inhabitants, Simorre has an incredibly oversized fortified church made of red bricks, looking much more like a feudal fortress than a church (see next photo).

Further left along this street, one can seen the timber pillars of the covered market square (Halle, see photo in comment below).

Au pays des bastides, Simorre est une sauveté, l'une des plus anciennes de Gascogne, mais reconstruite suite à un incendie au XIIe siècle, un siècle avant le début de l'essor des bastides, et sans le même plan géométrique

In an earlier post I foreshadowed an agricultural company at Kardoskút shipping freight on rails.

IKR Agrár Ltd.'s portfolio includes manufacturing different types of chemical fertilisers, but they also redistribute different fertiliser products from other manufacturers, like LOVOCHEMIE, ICL, HAIFA, DUSLO and HUNFERT.

The last one's plant is located in Peremarton, Hungary while most of the others are in Slovakia. Depending on the type of fertiliser shipped from these factories to IKR Agrár, they are arriving in tank, sliding door, or self-unloading wagons (pictured above), occasionally with a mix of different (liquid, granule etc.) products.

On the first Thursday of 2021, the beaten-up, retro-liveried M41 2143 was tasked with returning 47 empty, two-axle self-unloading wagons from the IKR Agrár sidings to Békéscsaba. The 470 metres long, ~600-ton train is seen here near the outskirts of Orosháza.

Sunset last summer just outside Bozeman, Montana. On my way into the mountains to photograph the Milky Way, I came upon this quiet scene—as if a foreshadowing of the beauty the night was about to reveal.

The Stoclet Palace (French: Palais Stoclet, Dutch: Stocletpaleis) is a private mansion built by architect Josef Hoffmann between 1905 and 1911 in Brussels, Belgium, for banker and art lover Adolphe Stoclet. Considered Hoffman's masterpiece, the Stoclet's house is one of the most refined and luxurious private houses of the twentieth century.

The house and garden were completed in 1911 and their geometry marked a turning point in Art Nouveau, foreshadowing Art Deco and the Modern Movement in architecture. Stoclet House is one of the most accomplished and homogenous buildings of the Vienna Secession, and features works by Koloman Moser and Gustav Klimt, embodying the aspiration of creating a ‘total work of art' (Gesamtkunstwerk).

The mansion is still occupied by the Stoclet family and is not open to visitors. It was designated as a world heritage site by UNESCO in June 2009

Pontsteiger, Houthavens Amsterdam, NL - arons en gelauff architecten

The building is located at the end of a 200 metre dam that projects into the water of the river IJ. The unusual form was designed with apartment dwellers’ preferences in mind: residential demand is highest either at the top of high rises (penthouse views) or at the base to connect to the liveliness at city level. In the Pontsteiger design concept the part in between is simply minimized. The large building consists of a six floor low rise block that wraps around a plaza on the waterfront. Two slender 60 metre towers at the open end of this block frame the river view. The towers carry a bridge spanning 48 metres rising to a height of 90 metres above the city. The result is an iconic building that foreshadows Amsterdam’s growth of high rise buildings around the river IJ.

Foreshadowing the changes to come with the CP takeover about 6 weeks later, the former I-DAAT2 had starting hauling a fair amount of slop freight in addition to stacks by March. On this spring Sunday it was all manifest as they close in on the Mississippi River at Delta, Louisiana.

Taken at sunset in the city of Berlin, Germany. Using the silhouette statue of the distraught woman in the foreground, against the ferris wheel in the evening sky behind, looked forebodingly disturbing to me.

The sea awoke at midnight from its sleep,

And round the pebbly beaches far and wide

I heard the first wave of the rising tide

Rush onward with uninterrupted sweep;

A voice out of the silence of the deep,

A sound mysteriously multiplied

As of a cataract from the mountain's side,

Or roar of winds upon a wooded steep.

So comes to us at times, from the unknown

And inaccessible solitudes of being,

The rushing of the sea-tides of the soul;

And inspirations, that we deem our own,

Are some divine foreshadowing and foreseeing

Of things beyond our reason or control.

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. The Sound Of The Sea.

Sitting here on a rainy day, had a chance to go back through the photos I have posted in 2021 and reflect on the year that has passed. I picked out 10 photos that I liked best and remind me of the 2021. They may not be my best, but are all memorable. Who would have thought that the photo I took of the water in the berry field way back in January would have foreshadowed the terrible floods that were in store in November. Or the the shot of the Horned Lark being one of two lifers I would see all year. The Kestrel with the earthworm making me smile. The shot in Crofton reminding me of the fun time on Vancouver Island for our golf trip. The enjoyable time watching the Coyote cubs at play. The interaction shots of the Osprey at their nest and then the Egret and Heron. And the Great Horned Owl on the few days we spent in the Okanagan. The centre shot of the Goldfinch in the garden is a favourite. And finally the majesty of the thousands of Snow Geese on Sumas Prairie just days before the floods. It is why we take photos, for the memories. Cheers!

After picking up about 30 grain loads from Rock Springs, L863 has swelled in size from it's 6 car consist out of Reedsburg. Between North Freedom and Baraboo, the Reedsburg Sub rolls through a rock cut. Initially, I thought that this cut was relatively small. But after hiking in and seeing it in person, this cut really gives you the feel that this was once a very important line. This cut is taller than an SD40, is about an 1/8 mile long, and is wide enough for two tracks. The fog helped set the ghostly mood. Luckily the ghostly scene isn't foreshadowing as the Reedsburg sub is doing quite well as evident by the large train sizes this fall.
