I took a Joel Grimes Workshop in Phoenix, Arizona on February 20-21, 2016. Joel Grimes did all the lighting setup for all the shoots and then each photographer basically went in to take our shots with each model. This is Jamaal Lewis, he was a seasoned model who needed no direction in terms of posing, but each photographer had the chance to ask for certain poses. I asked Jamaal to do a jumping jack, and this is what I captured. Very little post-processing was done on this image. I believe the flash duration for this shot was set to 1/6000sec on the Einstein strobes. The workshop was held at a local photography studio called Parkwood Photography Studios run by Nicholas Pappagallo Jr. All website links to all those involved are listed below.

Lighting was a single 5' octa high to camera left, powered by a Profoto Acute2 pack, and a silver reflector to camera right alongside the model. Shot against a white cyc, allowed to go gray with falloff.
my favorite word in the art world is -"STUDY". Study pretty much means that you can jeopardise whatever was meant to be good and still feel good about it. Anyway, here's a "STUDY" of ANTHONY BALDWIN, inspired by TONY DURAN'S incredibly fantastic photo session.
Samantha is walking beside a parked train. The engineer stopped here to run into a local popular restaurant to pick up call ahead order to go!!
Sam is tall enough to do runway...but her interests are in more commercial and useful modeling...

This is Alex P. at Ford Models. Wardrobe by Bryn Taylor, makeup by Anna Webber, hair by Annie Reynor, Steven Wu assisted.
Lighting was a single Profoto head in 5' octa high and right, maybe 6' away from the model, that's pretty much it. I'll often place a silver reflector on the model's shadow side, but I don't believe we're using one here.

and for the srobists : one umbrella at camera left for fill and a soft box at camera right... a little above the model.

Busy day but we got some great stuff! Two fantastic girls from Ford, 6 of 7 looks shot, a great time was had by all. Both models were pulled randomly and it turned out that both were from Belgium and both knew each other from working in Europe! Small world.
