Forages mostly in shrubs and trees, searching for food among foliage. Sometimes hovers to take insects from foliage or bark, or flies out to catch insects in mid-air.

Looking rather haughty, in a pause between foraging and feeding on the slope below the Edge; in amongst the marsh grass and heather, and the dead remains of last year's bracken.
There was very little cover out in this open area where the birds were largely to be found, so I had to get down very low to get close and not disturb the birds. To all intents this is an uncropped image, with slight trimming at the edges. I originally went for a tighter crop on the bird, but I liked the wider perspective with the context and foreground, the bokeh from which creates a sort of vignette around the subject.
Thanks for your faves and comments.
This lone Roseate Spoonbill was foraging the shallow waters at Celery Field, Florida. It seemed to have some difficulty navigating the thick tangle of vegetation in the fresh-water marsh, and often had mud and other matter (which I'd rather not describe) affixed to its long, flat bill.
A resident woodpecker found in woody areas across the country. Its a medium sized woodpecker and known for its loud calls. These birds are mostly seen in pairs with male and female going around together often foraging on the same tree.
I heard this bird a lot more than I had seen it. Many of the birding sites we visit have these birds, but somehow luck eludes me in getting better shots.
Thanks in advance for your views and feedback. Much appreciated.

European Badger [Meles meles] at The Pixies.
On a dull, rainy day at The Pixies - a mile down my track where I feed the birds, this wee guy was foraging for fallen nuts and seeds. Because the burn (stream) was in spate, he/she was unable to hear my car approaching and, since they are not renounced for visual acuity, I assume was unable to see me (or the car!) so was unconcerned and carried on as though no one was watching... I was able to watch for quite some time and was thrilled to have some time with this little sweetie.

Hi folks, never expected to see this guy where I did and hope that he hangs out for another few days, would like some more of this youngun".
Thanks to all for everything.
A Snowy Egret Soars into the morning sun at Bolsa Chica Wetlands.
Among the most elegant of the herons, the slender Snowy Egret sets off immaculate white plumage with black legs and brilliant yellow feet. Those feet seem to play a role in stirring up or herding small aquatic animals as the egret forages. Breeding Snowy Egrets grow filmy, curving plumes that once fetched astronomical prices in the fashion industry, endangering the species. Early conservationists rallied to protect egrets by the early twentieth century, and this species is once again a common sight in shallow coastal wetlands.
Another from my testing of my new toy, the Tamron 150-600mm A022 G2 Lens. And it's a monster of a lens, the sharpness that just about won out against the Sigma of the same range and it's broad range makes this Lens particularly versatile. There is a family of Squirrels came regularly come to town and we leave nuts and other seeds out for them, much to this little fella's protesting I caught him the act, well, he or she, retreated back to the nearest tree, chirping and squeaking at me, how dare I!
Well, I hope everyone is well and so as always, thank you! :)
Just down from the holiday apartment I was staying in Schierke, is a healthy set of bright yellow Coreopsis and the Butterflies and Bees love them. This Bee was particularly agile which presented quite the challenge with eh Raynox to get this little guy into focus, the constant moving around was tricky. So I shot off quite a few admittedly a spray and pray affair but managed t get two or three in pretty good focus.
Here's to another weekend ahead and I hope everyone has a good one, so always thank you! :)

A cow moose and her nearby one year old calf foraging for what they can find under the snow. I had hoped they would line up together for me in one shot but no such luck. Taken in a little opening in the woods near Mud Lake in Kananaskis Alberta.
A white ibis searches for its morning meal. I just love their expressive faces!

Stilpnia heinei (Black-capped Tanager / Tangara capirotada)
Black-capped Tanagers are vividly-colored tropical birds that occur in Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador and Peru. They often occur in pairs foraging in bushes and trees for insects and fruit.
It is one of the few species in the genus that shows obvious sexual dichromatism, with males primarily gray-blue in color with a distinctive black cap, and females yellow-green without a black cap.

White Ibis energetically forage in the muck with their long, curved beaks. This one came up with a crustacean. Riverstone Wetlands, Sugar Land, Texas.

So..wonderful celebrations and fun along with the bad health news in my family, more than enough to keep me out of mischief...
Black-crowned Night-Herons often spend their days perched on tree limbs or concealed among foliage and branches and normally feed between evening and early morning, avoiding competition with other heron species that use the same habitat during the day.
Their diet includes leeches, earthworms, insects, crayfish, clams, mussels, fish, amphibians, lizards, snakes, turtles, rodents, birds, and eggs.
They are social birds that tend to roost and nest in groups, although they typically forage on their own.
