Happy Caturday!
Frida, one of our son's 2 Maine Coons, who are still in our care. Stephen, our oldest son, moved to Brisbane, Australia in October 2019. We became responsible for his 2 cats at that time, with the expectation that we would be shipping them to Australia in June after a several month period of preparation for shipping. The coronavirus has played havoc with his and our plans, and now there is no estimated date for their departure.
His 2 cats occupy our playroom and do not interact with our cat Emma. Except to play footsies under the door ;-)

Whoweee, let the games begin. Grebes in a courtship ritual - I've posted this behavior before and made the comment that it's all in the fancy footwork - you can see the wings are pulled back and not helping our birds walk on water. They're so synchronized in this image they're both on their left footsie. I can also say based on past experience: what a treat! Sunlight over my shoulder, glassy water, performing birdies in my general direction. Very cool stuff.
One-day-old Black-necked Stilt, one of the 3 siblings I was privileged to witness. It was really wobbly - what a challenge to walk on those curled up footsies.

I've posted a number of Gallinule images this summer because, frankly, it's the most consistent in-depth experience I've had with them. It had to do with the local regional park banning fishing because of an algae bloom. Suddenly, the park had a big drop in visitors, especially at water's edge. The result on the wildlife side was that it all just came out of the woodwork, so to speak. So, here's another, a growing Gallinule juvenile taking a little stretch. You get a peek at those humongous coot-like footsies too.
Well, it was here again in the Zoo today, our Gallinula chloropus. I'd seen it the other day scrounging for bugs under those leaves but limping. Closer scrutiny didn't show an obvious cause except one foot was dragging a bit. In the Zoo it survived the night and foxes or dogs or perhaps rats that might've put an end to its straggling. Waterhens are pretty birds, I think. In English they're also called Moorhens not because they live on the moors but because 'moor' is an old word for marsh.

I made the point a little while ago that since fishing has been temporarily banned at the local park because of an algae bloom, the park has almost no visitors, leaving it for the wildlife and a few nature photographers. The Common Gallinule was almost never seen, but now I can find them in several areas. So here's an adult posing on a rock or stump, showing off those crazy footsies and matching beak and leg garters.
Happy Birthday, Morgan. I have a cozy little cafe behind the Bluff set, where friends may relax and unwind. My super-chic supermodel friend, Morgan, stopped by for some B-day cafe au lait -- and a smoke. (tisk tisk, lol) At least it's safe in SL. You can look cool and remain carcinogen free.

I added two rescue groups at the top of the menu on my website. one of them is jon's

With an American president who plays hardball with long-time allies and footsie with our adversaries, I'm reminded of the Angel Thunder exercises that brought together rescue personnel from all around the world to learn personnel recovery techniques from one another and train in unscripted, realistic events. In this photo a British Royal Marine helps US Air Force PJs load a role-player 'casualty' into an H215 operated by Air Center Helicopters while a Peruvian Air Force Bell 212 orbits the area.
Shot for some photo work I did for Air Center back in 2017 when they were bidding on a contract to provide CASEVAC for SOCOM in North Africa.
I managed to get this gem of a shot when widget slipped of my arm. How amazing is this. Looks like he just backflipped.
The corella version of footsies is different to the human version as corellas like to bite eachothers feet lol. The photobombing corella is a bonus here haha.
