About Al Ghurair Center:

Built on an empty plot of land in 1981, Al Ghurair Centre was the first modern shopping mall project of its kind in the Middle East. Within no time, it rose in prominence much like the city of Dubai, setting new standards for retail along the way.

In 2013, Al Ghurair Centre underwent an expansion to deliver a better and unique experience. The addition of 150 new stores was complemented by a world-class family entertainment centre, premium & popular dining concepts, an additional 60,000 square feet of office space, a serviced-apartment complex, a 5-star hotel and many other attractions.

At Al Ghurair Centre, life plays out in new and amazing ways with a fine medley of shopping, dining, entertainment and a lot more. Discover why Al Ghurair Centre is one of Dubai's must-see destinations.

Image scanned from photo print 4” x 6” size. Photo taken in year 2000. Generation 8 (1987-1991) Ford F-Series Pickup truck

This photo illustrates one of the common shortcomings of modern automated photo processing - cutoff of subject matter! It seems that machines are set so that not all of the image on the negative frame is printed, that certain material around the edges is cropped out for whatever reason. Comparing the print to the negative one can see that the truck has more space on the right margin than what’s apparent in this print.

Now, about the subject of the photo…

Within our plant we had a kitchen which was used mainly to heat frozen dinners and keep beverages cold. The main purpose of which was to prepare and deliver meals to hourly workers who stayed over and covered a double shift when their relief was unable to cover their normal shift.

Sometimes though there would be special occasions in which hundreds of employees would be likely to attend, so the kitchen staff would assist in those times as well.

Just from the large white tent and the structures high in the distant background I can pretty much recall the location and specific occasion here. It was for a major merger announcement involving our company. And yes, I had my camera handy!

Toronto is the provincial capital of Ontario. With a recorded population of 2,731,571 in 2016, it is the most populous city in Canada and the fourth most populous city in North America. The city is the anchor of the Golden Horseshoe, an urban agglomeration of 9,245,438 people (as of 2016) surrounding the western end of Lake Ontario, while the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) proper had a 2016 population of 6,417,516. Toronto is an international centre of business, finance, arts, and culture, and is recognized as one of the most multicultural and cosmopolitan cities in the world.

People have travelled through and inhabited the Toronto area, located on a broad sloping plateau interspersed with rivers, deep ravines, and urban forest, for more than 10,000 years. After the broadly disputed Toronto Purchase, when the Mississauga surrendered the area to the British Crown, the British established the town of York in 1793 and later designated it as the capital of Upper Canada. During the War of 1812, the town was the site of the Battle of York and suffered heavy damage by American troops. York was renamed and incorporated in 1834 as the city of Toronto. It was designated as the capital of the province of Ontario in 1867 during Canadian Confederation. The city proper has since expanded past its original borders through both annexation and amalgamation to its current area of 630.2 km2 (243.3 sq mi).

The diverse population of Toronto reflects its current and historical role as an important destination for immigrants to Canada. More than 50 percent of residents belong to a visible minority population group, and over 200 distinct ethnic origins are represented among its inhabitants. While the majority of Torontonians speak English as their primary language, over 160 languages are spoken in the city.

Toronto is a prominent centre for music, theatre, motion picture production, and television production, and is home to the headquarters of Canada's major national broadcast networks and media outlets. Its varied cultural institutions, which include numerous museums and galleries, festivals and public events, entertainment districts, national historic sites, and sports activities, attract over 43 million tourists each year. Toronto is known for its many skyscrapers and high-rise buildings, in particular the tallest free-standing structure in the Western Hemisphere, the CN Tower.

The city is home to the Toronto Stock Exchange, the headquarters of Canada's five largest banks, and the headquarters of many large Canadian and multinational corporations. Its economy is highly diversified with strengths in technology, design, financial services, life sciences, education, arts, fashion, aerospace, environmental innovation, food services, and tourism.

WEEK 29 – Stateline Kroger (I)

Glancing down for a close-up of some of those remnant floor tiles. While all of the old Bauhaus décor may have been wiped out in the 2012/bountiful décor remodel, knowing that the classic flooring did remain, I deliberately tried to capture as much of it as I could. It’s probably hard to make out from just a picture, but this is the type of hard tile that makes for a rather bumpy ride when you push your shopping cart across it (not entirely dissimilar to the type of tile you’d see in fast food kitchens, I’d say). But it’s super cool nonetheless :P

Ghost sign for an old food service equipment and supplies store in Asheville, North Carolina. The store is long gone, and the old logo of Mr. Equipit is partially covered up after the building was remodeled, but thankfully they didn't cover him up completely!

nrhp # 75000217-The inn's lodge building and adobe guest cabins−casitas were designed in the Pueblo Revival style, by National Park Service architect Lyle E. Bennett and others from the Park Service Branch of Plans and Design. Construction was carried out by Civilian Conservation Corps builders and artisans over 1937–1940.[4] A portion of the main lodge building was remodeled from the 1920s inn on the site, known as the Stone Tree House due to much local petrified wood used in its architectural elements.[5]

After post-war design revisions by architect Mary Jane Colter, it was operated by the Fred Harvey Company as a Harvey House from 1947 to 1963, when it closed.[6] Demolition was proposed in the mid-1970s, but after public protests the building was reopened for limited use in 1976. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1987.

The main lodge building of the Painted Desert Inn was extensively rehabilitated and restored, reopening as a museum and bookstore in 2006. Overnight accommodations and food service are not currently available at the inn.

While up near the front, might as well look back at the service departments and produce section again. Looks kind of cramped in this view, but I believe that's just the angle I took the photo from, and all the people crammed into it!
