With its large, featherless legs and its long, orange-red beak, the stork is immediately recognizable. Its white coat and the ends of its black wings make the stork a unique bird. Its particularity is also to be able to stay long perched on only one of its paws by smoothing its plumage. The stork has a slow and majestic gait. It is more than 1 meter tall, which ranks it among large birds, and has an impressive wingspan of over 2m. In flight, the stork has an elongated neck, unlike the heron, with which it is often confused.

Rural Morning

To stop his starting cows that dread the fly;

Droning unwelcome tidings on his ear,

Built between 1908-1912, Fonthill was the home of Henry Chapman Mercer (1856-1930). Archaeologist, anthropologist, ceramist, scholar and antiquarian, Mercer built Fonthill both as his home and as a showplace for his collection of tiles and prints. The first of three Mercer buildings in Doylestown, Fonthill served as a showplace for Mercer’s famed Moravian tiles that were produced during the American Arts & Crafts Movement. Designed by Mercer, the building is an eclectic mix of Medieval, Gothic, and Byzantine architectural styles, and is significant as an early example of poured reinforced concrete.

When the golden sun is setting and your mind from care is free,

When [of] others you are thinking, will you sometimes think of me?

Think of me when you're happy. Leave for me a little spot.

View on the parish church from the hill, slightly below the castle. At background you can see the Vistula river :)

Parish church of St. Bartholomew and John the Baptist - the oldest sanctuary in Kazimierz Dolny (the parish existed there already in 1325), the church was first gothic, then developed in the style of “Lublin renaissance” (between 1586-91 and then 1610-13 under supervision of Italian architect Jakub Balin). The ceiling of the church is covered in stucco decorations, geometric, mannerist, shaped in circles, squares, hearts, stars and rosettes. In the interior of the church, there are a few items particularly worth noticing: late gothic main portal, 1620 organ inspired by Flemish art), stalls in the presbyterium (from the 1st half of the 18th century), a baptismal font made of stone (by Santi Gucci, a Florence artist), 17th and 18th century cordovan antependia (the covers of the front part of the altar made of pressworked and dyed leather), an inlaid pulpit from 1615. The church was thoroughly renovated between 2010 and 2012.

Kościół farny widziany ze wzgórza, nieco poniżej zamku. W tle widok na Wisłę i okolice :)

Kościół św. Jana Chrzciciela i św. Strop kościoła pokrywają dekoracje stiukowe, geometryczne, manierystyczne, uformowane w koła, kwadraty, serca, gwiazdy i rozety. We wnętrzu kościoła na szczególną uwagę zasługuje późnogotycki portal główny, organy z 1620 roku inspirowane sztuką flamandzką), stalle w prezbiterium (z I poł. (autorstwa Santi Gucci, florenckiego artysty oraz intarsjowana ambona z 1615 r. W latach 2010–2012 kościół został gruntownie odnowiony.

The Salisbury font was designed by the renowned British water sculptor William Pye. It was installed in September 2008 and dedicated by the Archbishop of Canterbury during the celebration of the 750th anniversary of the consecration of the Cathedral. There is stillness expressed in the smooth surface which reflects and extends the surrounding architecture.

The green spots in the bottom right and left corners of the photo are the sediments at the bottom of the Font.
