According to legend, the deep Lake Lagarfjlót is said to hold a beast called the Lagarfljót Wyrm, a cousin of the Loch Ness Monster with a lot more history. While the earliest significant records of Nessie go back to the 1870s, the Lagarfjlót Wyrm has been spoken about since 1345.

Folklore is the set of creations of a cultural community, based on the traditions of a group or individuals, which express their cultural and social identity, in addition to the customs and values that are transmitted orally, passing from generation to generation. In Brazil, folklore was the result of the mixing of three peoples (indigenous, Portuguese and African) and the influence of immigrants from various parts of the world. Therefore, Brazil has a varied, rich and very peculiar folk tradition. In each Brazilian region, folklore presents similarities and differences.
A part of American history and local folklore meet at Singer Castle on Dark Island, located on the St. Lawrence River. Singer Castle is the only remaining/existing castle on our river to be completed, fully furnished and resided in during the heyday of the great builders and industrials in New York. Calumet and Castle Rest (Pullman) were both completed and lived in. (And both were prior to Towers.) The Castle remained in the possession of the original owners, the Bourne family, from its construction in 1905 until the mid 1960’s. Frederick Bourne was the fifth President of the Singer Sewing Machine Company, which is where the name “Singer Castle” came from. When the Bourne family summered there, it was called “The Towers” which comes from the inspiration that Ernest Flagg, the architect whom designed this structure, had after reading the book Woodstock by Sir Walter Scott.

Ho scattato questa foto passeggiando a Scopello.
Vedendo questo meraviglioso carretto con dei bambini a bordo non ho potuto fare a meno di scattare.
at a park i saw this statue representing a local folklore all children were taught at school, malakas at maganda (strength and beauty) , a creation myth (origin of man and woman). i'll spare any more descriptions as i'm sure there are more informations that the reader can google.
“Balla the Beithir” is located a Stockinfield Junction in North Glasgow on the Forth and Clyde canal between Maryhill and Ruchill and is one of five mythical creatures in Scottish folklore and a cousin of the famous “Kelpie’s”, she is a lightning serpent who comes out during storms and if she sees you, then you have to jump into water otherwise you’ll turn into stone, hence the canal nearby for emergencies……..
