A photo from my first ever visit to Skegness in summer 2022. I had to do a "dry run" by myself before being allowed to take my wife and son for a day trip, largely to check that the electric car could get there and back.
I understand that in the 1940s and 50s the advertising for cameras was to ditch the old lenses and instead buy the new lenses suitable for the magic of colour film, e.g. a "Color-Skopar" rather than this "Skopar". I have to say I think the advertising was nonsense given the images from this roll of film.
Focus was just the usual "near vs far" setting on the camera.

From a walk along the Nene at Sutton bridge. One of two lighthouses either side of this channel, which I understand have never actually been lit. Also known as "West Sutton lighthouse" despite being the east-most of the two lighthouses here.
This lens is quite sharp, I should probably have asked for a higher-resolution scan of this negative.

A tree in a field with blossom, taken 19th April 2022, around 10 in the morning, the fallen blossom can be clearly see on the ground around the tree. I also liked the track to the RHS curving round, adds balance and draws the eye a bit. I was gifted a second breakfast and a coffee shortly after taking this in a real act of kindness from a stranger which I will remember all my days.

This is an old packhorse bridge at Bottesford, built in 1605. Apparently it was built by a Dr Fleming who had fallen off his horse while fording this stream and was upset about it. :-)

The west bank of the River Nene as it completes its journey to the sea outside Sutton Bridge. Very flat man-made country which will disappear again under the water one day, possibly in our lifetimes.

Another glamour location, the station at Stoke is quite dark but is otherwise architecturally fairly decent if not outstanding. It also has a bar and a cafe. This was taken on my travels with work.

This is a 12th century church which is apparently in "very bad" condition, "immediate risk of further rapid deterioration or loss of fabric; no solution agreed". Population of Stibbington is about 200.

I took this as all the brickwork and all the tiling in this town is really lovely. Where I live we have flat "slates" on the roofs (actually thin limestone) so these pantiles are quite a sight for me at least.

Some super brickwork in this backstreet area of Macclesfield. It's between Sunderland Street and the river Bollin, I guess it might have been a wharf area of the river was once navigable (before the trains came I guess).

The bridge was repainted fairly recently. The pub opposite is decent enough. The historic marks showing high water from various flood can just about me made out on the opposite bank.

This is the Hotel Bedford (my usual when visiting Brussels), I quite liked the light as I was getting ready to leave. From memory this was a one or two second exposure with the camera balanced on a desk.

A barn in the fields near Sutton Bridge, viewed from the West Bank. This was a super walk, really rich soil here and lots of high-yielding fruit trees just growing wild in the hedge. A wonderful mix of order and chaos, also in this scene and hopefully a little bit in the composition as well with the branches just overlapping the barn.

The rail line here closed in 1929, the train station was integrated with the bridge. This was the Stamford and Essendine Railway which ran from Stamford to Wansford, not a commercial success alas so abanonded long ago.
